James Ray was a patient of Dr Crilser - he was prescribed Test Cyp, HCG, HGH, Arimidex and Finasteride by the doctor

It is peculiar why a man of Ray's means living in Carlsbad, CA, would be prescribed drugs by an internet physician in Michigan rather than seeing a board-certified endocrinologist or urologist at one of the outstanding medical centers in southern California.or going to an anti-aging clinic in California.

Nevertheless, Dr. Crisler appears to have done nothing illegal in prescribing this regimen to Mr. Ray. Physicians in the United States, whether they are MDs or DOs, are granted the latitude to prescribe any FDA-approved medicine for any indication they see fit. While it is illegal for drug companies themselves to promote "off-label" uses of drugs (i.e., indications for which the company has not received explicit FDA approval), a physician can legally prescribe a breast cancer drug to a man wishing to build lean muscle mass.

The media is trying to demonize anabolic steroids and the physicians that prescribe them yet again. It seems they want to link steroid use with the alternative liftestyle of a "new age guru" whose practices resulted in a tragedy as if a steroids/HGH/arimidex/hcg/finasteride protocol was partly to blame. Dr. Crisler just happened to be the doctor that treated the "new age guru".

the writer has his own agenda, and he makes subjective assertions without bothering to even offer a rationale, let alone a citation or footnote. he's correct that others will try to use this incident to restrict patient freedoms, but he appears to be in that camp himself.

James Arthur Ray may himself try to blame Dr Crisler, time will tell what Ray's attorneys have decided.
