Default how long for thyroid meds to get out of system?

My endo wants me to stay off throxine because he's testing me next month. How long do the meds take to get out of your system so that the thyroid goes low again?

I have secondary hypothyroidism caused by pituitary because my free T4 and Total T4 is low as well as low TSH. He also said that low thyroid doesn't cause erection probs.

The half life is a week...so you should be nice and low without it.

Why does he want you to get another baseline test?

In 5 half lives 99.9% is gone.
But TBG will try to maintain homeostasis, so, at least 6 weeks, imho.

This is a different endo to the one who originally prescribed thyroxine. He wants me off all meds until I see him next month.

For practical (clinical) purposes, 5 days.

[Note: WTF!!! Hypothyroidism is a known CAUSE of hypogonadism.]

WOW...Type in hypothytoid and erection, libido into google and you will find many studies showing that thyroid problems can most definitely cause erection/libido issues, as well as testosterone problems...
