It could be entirely due to the drop in your stress level and, if I had to bet on what made your libido come back, that would be the one.
i agree, is probably the lower stress levels also more than anything else, placebo is extremely strong more than anyone ever imagines....Tyler you should do some lab work to nail down the numbers to a working state as a reference marker....

I dont know guys. I am sure that high stress was a factor, but i dont think it was the primary factor.

The fact is, i need some mood support. My brain doesnt seem to be as "happy" as other peoples brains. I dont want to be on pharma support, and if these supports

(a) give me a good libido
(b) make me feel decent
(c) have no side effects like pharma meds

Y the fawk not?

They are also not too expensive. Vitd3 is dirt cheap. Fish oil is relatively cheap if bought in bulk. Iron is dirt cheap. 5HTP is a bit more expensive bc i buy a certain brand, but if you combine all these supps I can get two months supply for under a hundred bucks. $50/month to feel good? Yeah sure, why not.

By your previous episode I mean you mentioned that this combo of supps brought your libido back before...what else was going on with you at the time? Just starting TRT? Stress? Other?

In this last case, you had brought back the fish oil, 5HTP, and iron for 12 days and then your libido came back...but it came back on a day when your stress level went way down.

OTOH, I aint gonna argue with success. If you think it helps, keep doing it.

My own $0.02 for you is that if you want to lose a supp, it would be the iron. There isnt any mechanism for iron to leave the body once its absorbed. Once its in, it stays in forever. The only way to get rid of it is to donate blood.

Actually you are right. My stress level is WAY down since Monday. I would say it plays a factor.

At the same time, it's wierd for my libido to just "shut off" because for the first 25 years of my life, my libido would always be there no matter how stressed I was. It's only on TRT and the past two years where it just totally shuts off!

Yeah Iron is pretty good. I am going to play around with stopping a few of these supps in December, but since the cost if low, and it makes me feel decent, I will probably just take them ongoing.

Regarding Iron, is there any harm taking it longterm? The pharmacist at Walmart told me I should check my Iron levels every once in awhile?

Never underestimate work/school/life related stress. It's been recognized for a long time as a libido killer in men and women. You shouldnt consider it unusual at all that it went away on you during a time when you had project deadlines. It happens all the time. We all want to be walking talking poonhounds 24/7 but reality is different and anyone who tells you otherwise is totally full of shit.

Yeah, iron can be a problem because it can build up. The pharmacist is giving you good advice.

Switch to Magnesium citrate at 200 to 400 mg/day. There's no build-up issue or anything like that. You can take that the rest of your life and do nothing but benefit from it. Did you see in that link that mag enhances dopamine? The blogger is an RN who knows her shit!

Very true.
The effects of stress on all aspects of health are underestimated and even ignored.

Magnesium citrate. Hmm, got it. I will switch to that in december.

Yeah i agree that stress might have been a factor. I had a feeling like i "hit the wall" when I lost my libido. So it could have been a combination of several factors.

Its pretty simple. If the libido holds continously over an extended period of time while on the supplements you have your answer.

Since you're already (wisely) supping with vitamin D, adding magnesium will make that even more beneficial:

Vitamin D Council > About vitamin D > Vitamin D cofactors > Magnesium

okay i am going to buy some magnesium citrate. I can get this anywhere right? Do you recommend a certain brand? Its probably not a good idea to take Iron for as long as I have without getting tested for Fe levels. I have been taking it since August. So four months.

So I will substitute magnesium at what dose? I was taking 50mg Iron. Any idea (ballpark) what an equivalent dose of magnesium might be? Thanks!!
