DNP or not DNP?

You're correct. The sodium salt of DNP is what bodybuilders refer to as "crystal DNP." Pure DNP, or the DNP base, is commonly referred to as "DNP powder."

There are a lot of myths about how the two forms differ, similar to the myths bodybuilders have about how testosterone enanthate and testosterone cypionate differ from each other. In reality, they are going to act very much the same. The primary difference is that crystal DNP is slightly weaker than powder DNP, since it is not pure DNP, but contains a sodium molecule. When the sodium is cleaved, you're left with the same DNP base that you get when you take DNP powder. Both forms are highly bioavailable, which is not surprising considering DNP is a small molecule that can even permeate skin. It's often been said that crystal DNP is 75% as strong as powder DNP, but based on the chemical structures and molar masses, it looks like crystal DNP is about 89% as strong as powder DNP (molar mass of 184.106 for powder vs 206.088 for crystal).
Hope that helps,

So I am only curious and looking for clarification: based on molar mass, crystal is 89% as strong as powder? Would this mean that a 250 mg cap of crystal would be like ingesting 222.5 mg of powder? Or would 250 mg crystal be like 187.5 mg powder (75% dnp by volume).

I'd also like to know. I have always been under the impression that it was infact at 75%, pending on weight of salt content. Honestly, it should vary based upon salf.

I always assumed it was like ingesting 187 mg of powder, but after examining the actual molar masses, i believe that it would be like ingesting 222 mg of powder. This is somewhat surprising because comparisons (here and elsewhere) frequently suggest that crystal contains less than this. My best guess is that this is because the crystal products being compared are underdosed. Underdosing seems to be a common problem among DNP suppliers.

Hope that helps,

When we say that crystal DNP is the sodium salt of DNP, we're not saying that the DNP in combined with some variable amount of salt. We're saying that the DNP has formed a compound with sodium, which is a different chemical from the DNP base. Once in the body, the sodium atom is cleaved, leaving the same DNP base as you get with powder. Accounting for the salt content means accounting for the sodium atom in each molecule of the sodium salt of DNP. That isn't "pending on weight of salt content" or "vary based upon salt." It's in a fixed ratio of sodium to the DNP base.

Wow. That is very interesting. This does make sense to me though. The last time that I went for a run with my current product I felt extremely warm when I moved up to 2 250 mg caps. Very impressive Conc. good eye!

Thanks for all the info C.
After being burned so many times with fake shit and not knowing if perhaps the crystal versus powder version was why perhaps it wasn't working that well is helpful.

Ok, I'm on my 2nd weeks or DNP not, 1st week run 200mg ED and this week 300mg ED, so far the sides are still tolerable, just feel warm all day, sometime sweat, no lethargy, no rash, energy high & my focus is sharper than ever (weird??) but the bad thing is I feel hungry all the time & I'd ended up eating more than I used to, even during bulking...especially craving for carbs and sweets (one of the expected DNP sides anyway). Makes me thinking, this could be counter productive with DNP usage in the first place and if I still can't control my appetite, I may ended up losing nothing...even worse gaining fat during DNP...this is bad man :(

help!!
