Peak Week

    I'm less than 2 weeks out from my first competition, everythings gone well, no coach, so what has me concerned is peak week. I really don't know what I need to do as far as nutrition and water manipulation. Help!!!!

    How do you currently look? One thing I've learned is there's no magic tricks to really pull out during peak week
    Sometimes it's best just to continue what has worked well rather than make drastic changes and ruin everything

    I'm far from knowledgeable about body building but jay looks awesome, staying the course may juat be the best option. Kids Looking really good atm.

    I haven't seen recent pics of him but I know guys like Dave Palumbo and guys he has on the show always say if you're already in shape, most times just stay the course rather than screw up and spill over or come in flat

    @jaymaximus you did a hell of job prepping yourself brotha , dont blow it by over thinking "peak weak" too much... you're lean as a mfr so any tweaks you make this last week should be very minimal... just diet the same you have up til friday night , if your holding some water friday night maybe take a half a diazide...

    I wouldnt screw with water much and sodium at all , but id cut water the morning of the show . Maybe , MAYBE... take another half a tab of diazide sat morning if you wake up with a little layer of water still... but that is about as extreme as I would take it .. and even that is just an arbitrary cookie cutter approach , but probably the safest way to go about it without a coach or someone experienced to help you out in person .

    I probably won't mess with the rest, but I may try this water protocol.

    Day of, am I eating anything? I'm not worried about hunger too much because I'll be nervous af, but I know with any carbs I get completely vascular. Like fresh pump vascular

    Show. I wanted to get back in to powerlifting this year, but after my last injury I may be done for good. But that's something future Jay will worry about.

    I’ve always pounded the water starting around 9-10 days out. 1.5 gallons the first day, increasing amount as the show gets closer. Get up to around the 3 gallon mark on Thursday. Maybe 2 gallons that Friday and cut it off around 5pm.

    It takes water to push water.... if you start cutting water during that last week too early, like in the protocol that you posted, your water will come back on you and you won’t be dried out Saturday morning. Keep water HIGH that last week until Friday.

    If you’re lean as fuck, which you are, there’s no reason to do anything but carb up and manipulate water. I wouldn’t mess with the whole sodium loading/cutting shit. You’ve gotta have sodium in your body to get a pump and move blood...

    Don’t over think this stuff! You’ve done the hard part. Getting lean as humanly possible.

    Do the same thing the last week as you’ve done the last 12.... don’t try any voodoo stuff.

    Thanks. I was actually trying to find your water protocol. As far as carb up, when and how much? I'm still at 140g a day now (220p, 65f).

    It’s really all dependent on how much YOU need to fill out. For me....right now I’m around 120 carbs per day and 300 on refeed days. I think I’ll start carbing up on Wednesday before the show and dial it back somewhat on Thursday, and see how I look Friday morning. If I️ need more, I️ can add it. If I️ don’t, I’ll just keep things normal.

    Some say carb Friday, but that’s just gambling and hoping you’ll be right Saturday morning. I don’t like that approach at all. There’s no room to play and you get only get one shot at getting it right.

    I like the Wednesday-Thursday carb days and go by feel Friday.

    But I’m like you... I’m flying solo. No coach for me. I’m getting to know my body pretty good these last 3 years. So it’s still an experiment at this point with me...

    @rutman @jaymaximus man you two get a shit load more carbs than me Haha granted I'm eating 5lbs cooked weight of tilapia a day, but my high carb day is I belive 150, others are 50 and 75
