A-Rod, Steroids and the Most Reliable Triple Hearsay from the New York Times

New York Times and anabolic steroids

The New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez purchased documents linking him to the Biogenesis steroid scandal in an effort to suppress incriminating information. How do we know? Because the New York Times tells us so. The perpetuation of the A-Rod witch-hunt is made possible through the magic of anonymous sources and the generous use of hearsay. […]

Nasser el Sonbaty and Anabolic Steroids

April 4, 2013 by Millard 7 Comments

Nasser el Sonbaty at the 1997 Mr. Olympia. Nasser was always open and honest about anabolic steroids to anyone who asked.

IFBB pro bodybuilder Nasser el Sonbaty died in his sleep on March 20, 2013 after being ill for several months. Given that Nasser el Sonbaty admitted using anabolic steroids in a sport where steroid use is pervasive, many people predictably blamed Nasser’s death on his use of steroids. Here’s what we think of the anti-steroid crusaders who want to condemn Nasser in the days following his death.

Two men involved in the domestic distribution of Sciroxx-brand anabolic steroids have pleaded guilty in the United States District Court in Providence. Edmond Paolucci and Patrick Cunningham admitted responsibility for importing bulk quantities of steroids and ancillary drugs, repackaging them in retail-size units with the Sciroxx label and shipping them to customers in the United […]

Drug Free Sport New Zealand blames bodybuilders for increase in steroid use among professional and amateur athletes.

The use of anabolic steroids in competitive sports has been blamed on many things including the win-at-all-costs culture and the increasing commercialization of sports. But Drug Free Sport New Zealand believes the real culprits responsible for the rampant use of steroids in sports are bodybuilders! The NZ anti-doping chief claims bodybuilders are selling steroids to athletes who work out at the same commercial gyms.

Boxer Tony Thompson advocates the legalization of steroids and doping in professional boxing

American boxer Tony Thompson wants anabolic steroids and doping to be legalized in the sport of professional boxing. Rules against steroids are unenforceable. Boxers are getting away with the use of steroids. This places non-steroid using boxers at a dangerous disadvantage. The only fair and honest way to address the problem is to allow doping according to Thompson.

Oscar Pistorius - Testis Compositum confused for banned anabolic steroids

The South African Police Service testified that two boxes of the anabolic steroid testosterone, needles and syringes were found in the bedroom of Oscar Pistorius. They appear to have made an embarrassing mistake. Anabolic steroids were not really found. It appears to be an innocuous product called Testis compositum consisting of animal testicle extracts and homeopathic ingredients.

China Shocked It is the Source of Steroid Powder for the Rest of the World

China and anabolic steroid powder sources

Where do most underground steroid labs (UGLs) and steroid “home-brewers” obtain their steroid powders? From China, of course. While most steroid-using bodybuilders have known this for a decade, it is breaking news to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). And the Chinese governments claimed to be “shocked” to learn this information from WADA.

Oscar Pistorius murder of Reena Steenkamp, anabolic steroids and roid rage

It was inevitable that questions about anabolic steroids and “roid rage” would be raised in the context of Oscar Pistorius’ murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. The South African Sunday newspaper City Press was the first to report that police have requested to test Pistorius’ blood for the presence of anabolic steroids. Within hours, the UK tabloid The Sun announced steroids were found at the home of Pistorius.

The Short History of Steroid Incidents in the National Basketball Association

National Basketball Association (NBA) and anabolic steroids and performance-enhancing drugs

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has a very short history of “incidents” involving anabolic steroids and performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). There have only been three positive steroid test results – and at least one of them was for DHEA. Other than that, there has been one NBA player to claim steroids were a “huge” problem only to later deny it. And one former NBA player who was arrested for steroid possession only to find out the vials didn’t contain an illegal substance.

United Kingdom: Steroid Heaven for Bodybuilders, Steroid Hell for Police Officers

Transparency International - Cops, anabolic steroids and corruption in the United Kingdom

It’s great to be a bodybuilder in the United Kingdom. Using steroids for muscle size and strength? No problem. Bodybuilders can legally possess anabolic steroids for personal use. They can even go to needle exchange clinics for free injection supplies. But police officers don’t get to share the same anabolic freedoms.
