Grills and 'Que

So I have given up my mancard for the last year and a half or so I'm ashamed to admit. I moved and didn't want to bring a POS grill with me so I went grill-less since last year. I have since grown tits and a vagina bc of the lack of grilling and 'que'ing so I decided to say fuck big pharma and SERMs and invest in a new grill. My main issue is idk if my landlady will allow me to store it outside. If not I already have plans in place to go John Wick on her and her family and I'll settle for a small grill I can disassemble and bring inside (sucks hairy Asian penis but it is what it is). If she says it's ok to store one outside I'm looking to make up for my small penis with a decent size pit.

Currently I'm looking at 2- 20x30s or 20x36's. The two builders are Pits by Klose and Pits by JJ. Both are Texas based builders. Both use 1/4in steel, custom builds, heavy duty construction and good welds, etc. if I go with Klose, I can only really afford the 20x30 model grill which is still 840 sq in. Plenty of room to cook for the fam and friends and even do dual zone cooking so I can still smoke some ribs, brisket, pork butt, etc. if I go with Pits by JJ, I can do either the 20x30 which should be the same 840sq in or go with the 20x36 which should be around 1000-1100sq in.

Any of you juicers have experience with either of these two builders? Anyone have one or has friends/family that do?

Anyone in the area is free to swing by for some ribs and rubNtugs.....

Big Green Eggs don't take up that much space and aren't too ridiculously heavy if worst came to worst. Won't have ad much surface area, but still definitely worth the investment if you're just cooking for yourself and family.

I looked into those but if I can put it outside I'm going big bc I have a small, microscopic weewee. I like the option of being able to make a dual zone fire and still have enough room to smoke a few racks of ribs and extras on the indirect side. Do you have a green egg yourself?

The extra space on those big smokers is nice to have if you planning on grilling for more than just a few people.

I used to have a Kamado Joe. Practically the same, just different name. Found more accessories for the Green Eggs, so I let the Kamado go and plan to buy the egg when my family and I move to our next house later this summer.

8 hundo is alot...

I've never been a fan of pits lacking a fire box... It's too hard to get the heat right. The fire box is more forgiving and even using it can be tough to figure out at first, that's why lots of guys go the electric smoker route... Which will never be a REAL smoker to me lol.

Maybe I didn't have enough time on the non fire box style pit to get the hang of it, only used them a few times and never owned one.

And to answer your question: No, I have no experience with those two builders... I'm here for the ribs and rub n tugs.

Yea I def want to have some family and friends over for some good smokes. What kind of accessories are you looking at?

It is but the way I'm looking at it is I want to be able to entertain family and friends, the construction is top notch, I'm not really going to find anything for significantly cheaper that's also 1/4in steel and custom fabricated and welded to prevent leaks, and it will last for a long, long time. I've put aside a little bit of money every week for the last couple months so I can purchase it outright without having to put it on credit.

I read this as grills and "what" in Spanish. Anyway, I know nothing about grills, so carry on.

Hahahaha. I was waiting for someone to read it like that.

Problem is anything of a decent size with a side firebox is going to be too large to fit where I might be able to put it outside and that's if the lady says ok. Plus the well built ones cost even more (I'd rather not deal with a leaky unit bc they decided to cut costs and bolt the firebox on instead of welding it.

I should be able to fit an entire brisket and several racks of ribs if I do it right and I have the Jergens for a smooth rub n tug :)

You'll get the hang of it I'm sure!

I've never actually seen a bolted firebox I don't think... But some are poorly welded though. Mine is very nice quality but it's not huge. I'm in the market for one similar to what you're looking for, just need to have a firebox on it.

I like mine but, like you, I want one I can cook for a crowd... Mine is big enough for a brisket, a shoulder or a few racks of ribs. Which is fine for a weekend smoker... But I'm having a big group here in July that I want to do a full bbq menu.

What's your price range for the smoker? I've done enough research on them the last few weeks I can give you some good ones to look at.

Been wanting a egg just can't cut loose of that kind of money maybe one day.
For now I have a Brinkman trail master leaky at first till you get it seasoned.

I'm not sure... Around $800 maybe? There is a smoker place nearby me I wanted to go check out, buy something relatively cheap and outfit it with some stuff.
