Will i gain some pounds while on test / anavar while in a caloric deficit ??

Hi im 5ft 8 160lbs 16% bf.
Will i gain extra muscle weight while taking 500mg test / week even on a cutting cycle of 500 calorie deficit? Help would be appreciated

( Ideally I would like to be 170lbs on the leaner side )

Do you think a 12 week cycle of test / anavar with a 500 caloric deficit this is achievable while dropping a few numbers on the bf %

Maybe some glycogen retention causing you to lose less weight on the scale. Looking full while losing some fat at best.

You won’t gain actual tissue on a 500 kcal deficit.

Not true. Especially with increased AAS dose he can most certainly gain muscle. A 500 calorie deficit isn’t that steep to worry about catabolism.

Cutting is a vacation from building muscle, gains should be attempted regardless of calories.
 
Well technically, preventing catabolism is building muscle. I agree. Where you will gain the same amount of muscle that you would lose.

But he will not end up with more muscle than he has now.

Caloric deficit = fatloss and possibly a little muscleloss

Caloric deficit + weighttraining + enough protein = fat loss and muscleretention.

This is basic mechanics. AAS will limit fat gain during a bulk and will limit muscleloss during a cut.

What about going into a deficit with burning energy but eating in a surplus would this have the same effect? If that makes sense
 
Your best bet would be to eat at maintenance.

lift heavy add in cardio - slowly increase cardio per the mirror.

It’s hard serving to masters at once and frankly you’re not using the right compound to come close to achieve what you’re asking to achieve in the first place.

At 16% bodyfat, you will likely end up at 18%+ bodyfat if you do a "traditional" bulk. If you bulk very carefully, you could maintain your 16% bf, but muscle gains would be limited I think.

IMO your best option is to cut on the 500mg test. You have enough time to comfortably cut down to 11-12% bodyfat. Two weeks before you leave for Vegas, bump calories up to maintenance or a very very small surplus and start a medium dose of anavar. You will look lean, you will fill out nicely from the increased calories and test + anavar combo, and the anavar will make you look even leaner than you actually are.

one or the other with cutting or bulking. What kind of calorie deficit do you think I should be looking at 500? And would you stick at this deficit until the final few weeks? Cheers

Sounds like a plan. Should I stay in a 500cal deficit until the final 2 weeks? And would it be beneficial to run the anavar for longer?

You can definitely recomp on maintenance calories when adding test and var in.. BUT figure out what your goal for the cycle is and stick with it.
Even though 14 weeks sounds like a long time, when you’re taking test e you’re waiting 2 1/2 to 4 weeks for it to reach peak levels, so at that point you’ve only got a little over 2 months left “on” to achieve what you want to achieve. So I suggest if you want to look cut for Vegas then train and eat accordingly. If you want to look bigger than train and eat according to that goal. Flip flopping between goals on cycle is a good way not fully utilize the compounds you have.

May as well just cut and carb up shortly before the trip. This is why VigorousSteve advocates 16+ week cycles as that is enough time to set the momentum for muscle gain whether it’s at maintenance or surplus.
