Is it worth getting laser hair removal for my whole back and shoulders? I mean does it actually work if you are on gear or will the hairs come back? I am hairy AF.

dude it took me an 1 hr just to shave my chest and abs, still have my arms, traps, shoulders, forearms, fingers, back, quads, thighs, trimming pubes, dick hair, lol it's a goddamn problem, as if that sexy clean look lasts long before the regrowth starts
How the hell does it take you that long? I use a body hair trimmer and my chest and abs takes 3-5 mins! Razors suck, get a trimmer

Chest and ab hair can look good but I don't see any scenario where back hair looks good and it's a bitch to get rid of. Plus it's a question of hygiene if you sweat a lot.
I'm not cutting for half a year then blasting mast and tren to have hair cover it all up. If you are a fat dude or bulking then it obviously doesn't matter. I want my work to show.

In the us it’s probably close 1500$ PER session. I was looking into it and it’s dumb expensive.

Works well for women definitely. Not sure about guys. 250 euros /300 $ for back only here per session and they said it only takes three sessions with a month between each one. So with shoulders+back it's like a thousand bucks. I'd be pissed if it didn't work.
I like a certain amount of body hair in the right places (arms/legs/chest/facial stubble etc).
I shaved myself clean from top to bottom once in my early 30s and I felt like a fuckin weird alien so never did it again ROFL.
I shave my armpits with a trimmer coz that's hygienic and reduces sweating and I do the same with my pubes and ass crack for the same reasons but that's as far as I go.
To the OP @supremedonkey:
If it's just an issue on your back and shoulders have you considered professional waxing instead? Much cheaper and quicker with guaranteed results.
