Anybody use an CGM-sensor?

How is it accuracy? Does it irritate the muscle? How about when training? Where on the body do you place it.

I take a normal finger prick morning. Two hours after meal one and evening before bed. And HbA1c every 6 months.
Do I get better info with CGM?

The goal is management of HGH and food with my use of Metformin, Lantas and Reta.

they are great, slightly delayed vs actual Blood sugar readings.
it gives you a very clear picture of your response to food. which is great. it also gives you a time in range, which is great.

does not irritate the muscle, but if you are a nasty MF and dont disinfect before putting it on you might get staph. (also put it on your quad/glute/stomach if you are fat, never do shoulder/arm, you will get caught on something and rip it off every few days)

Great info!
Is there a good app, so you can get a nice view of the curve and history?

I bought the DexCom Stelo one off of Amazon

Really quite nifty. You need to buy a water-proof covering to put over it, and there's a good chance it'll fall off early.

I think you can also get the price down from $100 -> $60 if you put it on a subscription

You should read this thread

I use the Libre 3+.
No insurance involvement.
I don't put any covering, tried a few brands and they all gave me heat rash.
If it falls out (for any reason), they will send u a brand new one free -- really quick shipping.

I have gotten it replaced a few times so far.

Yes I used one once, they’re good but way too expensive. Mine was Libre 2 and did not fall off.

I guess in the context of a GH cycle the cost of one is bearable.

I was looking into Chinese ones but they aren’t cheap either unless you’re Chinese and can buy with a subsidy.

So I was put on one during my reactive hypo issues by my Endo. It was the Libra 3 or whatever. It was prescription and unfortunately they wouldn’t renew it,

So now I’m using the $50 Lingo CGM off Amazon. No real issues. They’re accurate within I believe 15 mg/dl maybe a slight more? Can’t remember what lingo says.
As long as it works and links up they’re easy to set and forget about it.

But I’ve had one completely fail after a day. Amazon will refund it no matter what you say. But as far as failing randomly that’s just how it goes with CGMs. Or they’ll die before “expiration”

They’re a bit scary looking with the applicator. But they’re painless if you just push it fast. It’ll lock right in.
I also have adhesive allergies. Bandages and second skin (tattoo bandage) I get read gives etc. But with CGMS no issues of any reactions.

I personally do it on my tricep on my non dominant arm. Just don’t sleep on it or put pressure on it from outside forces it’ll trip the sensor and can give false readings like your glucose is crashing. Happened multiple times in my sleep.

They’re great for tracking what foods really spike your glucose and how your body reacts to foods & meal timing.
I’m currently using this CGM to see how
HGH & Reta @ 1mg x2 a week has my body react to certain foods.

I used a Libre 2 for 2 months to see my response to different foods which was really valuable. I've changed my diet a little because of it, oatmeal for example gives me really high blood sugar, even trying stuff like olive oil and protein powder first wait, 15 minutes, then oats cooked with various liquid.
All gave me crazy high sugar. So I really rarely have oats except as a carb up after a long workout.
Caffeine also makes me hypo in the morning even just 150mg if taken in an empty stomach first thing. I have to eat bang on 30 minutes after

Great example of why I love CGMs

Just woke up with a fasted 85 mg/dl glucose on 2iu HGH & Reta. All because I had a low glycemic index meal at 7pm and some nuts before bed. Also slept really good for once.

I've only ever used them in diabetic dogs but have a tip if you have issues with them falling off early. We put a small amount of tissue glue on the sticky bit (away from the sensor ribbon) and helps prevent them falling out early.

I've been debating trialing one on myself to see how I respond to different foods a couple of my colleagues have and adjusted their diets.

Are there cheaper ones for animal use?

We use the freestyle libre 2. I'm not sure if we get wholesale prices (work for a large corporate) but we charge £70 to owners so assume they're about 40.
I might ask if I can buy some for myself because they're not prescription and we get them at cost so will report back

Great to hear, I had looked into them, but my limited research was pretty inconclusive. Should have searched on Meso instead...
They are pretty expensive though, if you need two of them a month.
Now I am asking myself, if they are such a useful tool, why don't we see any pro BBs wearing them?

So where do I put it then, if I am not fat?!

i personally have issues with the last generation dexcom hitting my shoulder muscles, even at peak bulk (20+% BF)
if the little plastic pokey thing goes IM, i feel as if i wanna tear off the bodypart it is placed in. really uncomfortable.
however, if you get one of the newgen dexcoms, they have ~3mm depth, which is usable even at lower BF%.

You gotta keep in mind, these devices are built for your average type 1 diabetic, which sadly is just another fat slob, just with an autoimmune disease.

You guys, holy shit -- just paid $25 out-of-pocket for an RX to Dexcom G7

Everyone needs to get on this ASAP

In my state, I didn't even need to talk to the provider.
I just filled out a questionnaire.

Will update if it turns out that I do need to do a consultation, but I think they're just going to give me the RX and potentially even ship the device to me?

I remembered that we have guy in our gym, that even wore such a device close before his show, so the new ones must indeed work even for very lean people.
Still haven't found a way to a prescription though. Are you officially diagnosed as a diabetic?

type one, yes. Diagnosed in early childhood.
Have been following the development of these devices since I was about 10 years old, got the Dexcom G6 at age 16 or so. figured they finally got everything figured out with the glue used, durations, etc.

Was mistaken, the G6 had a horrible feel to it when it hit the muscle.
Wayyy better with current gen Blood glucose monitors.

the thing @ChemBB sent in should work, Dexcom is always pushing for new customers. Their customer service is great as well.

I use the libre 3+, which I posted about on post #5 of this thread. I just ordered it and they sent me the prescription and the device. I never spoke to anyone or anything. Just added to cart and paid.

If I'm not mistaken that G7 is 10d, the 15d is approved but not on the shelf yet. The libre 3+ is 15d.

What you posted gets is an RX, you need to get it filled and that's where majority of the cost will be. I'm guessing it's 100 for a months worth but it'll depend on your insurance.

My insurance will cover without prior auth or a diabetic diagnosis, no criteria really, but I'm waiting for the 15d dexcomm. It might be specific to my company's insurance but I don't know really.

Not for me, I am on the wrong continent. I was hoping you'd tell me how to qualify for these things, while usually having a BFG in the mid 80's. From what I was able to gather you need to have been using the finger prick devices for quite a while, before you can get a prescription for those CGMs.
Obviously I want them now, and not having to run to a doctor for a full year, before I *could* qualify. Paying for them myself is currently not within my budget for such things.
