Barry Bonds Can't Wait to Serve Steroid Sentence In His Luxurious California Mansion

Re: Barry Bonds Can't Wait to Serve Steroid Sentence In His Luxurious California Mans

The Feds spent 75 million on his case !!!!?? I mean Barry Bonds is an asshole but that is a complete waste of money!!!

Re: Barry Bonds Can't Wait to Serve Steroid Sentence In His Luxurious California Mans

I really can't think of a better way to spend 75 million but then again I don't live in Detroit.

Re: Barry Bonds Can't Wait to Serve Steroid Sentence In His Luxurious California Mans

So who gets put on trial for wasting all this money???!!!!!

Assistant United States Attorneys Matthew Parrella and Jeffrey Nedrow? Never. But still a huge embarrassment for them that can only hurt their careers.

Even inside the offices of the United States Attorney for the Northern District of California, some prosecutors have questioned the wisdom of continuing to pursue Mr. Bonds, according to several former attorneys from the office....

“It’s a questionable use of resources, especially at a time when the budget is being cut, hiring is frozen and fraudsters are running amok,” said Richard Cutler, a former federal prosecutor who now works in Mountain View for the law firm Dechert L.L.P. “To have two or three attorneys, investigators and paralegals working full time on a perjury case against a baseball player raises questions about the prioritizing of prosecutions.”

[...]

“At the office or down at the gym, normal people might wonder why this is going on so long; it’s hard for some people to understand,” said Dave Anderson, who until recently served as the first assistant United States attorney. “But you have to understand that for prosecutors the grand jury is a cornerstone, and you can’t take perjury lightly.”

It is unknown how much time and money the government has spent on Balco. Jack Gillund, a spokesman for the United States Attorney’s Office, declined to release figures detailing the number of hours worked by prosecutors and employees, or how much money has been spent. He cited a policy of not commenting on ongoing litigation.

The case has been led by two career prosecutors working out of the United States Attorney’s Office in San Jose: Mr. Nedrow, described by legal observers as amiable and deceptively laconic, and Matt Parrella, a tenacious, hard-driving New Yorker.

Clemens is next man up to go to trial.

You missed the Clemens trial! He was acquitted of everything. Total fail for Assistant United States Attorneys Steven Durham and Daniel Butler. And total waste of taxpayer money.

Re: Barry Bonds Can't Wait to Serve Steroid Sentence In His Luxurious California Mans

All bc an answer Bonds gave to a question in 2003, about whether his trainer injected him with illegal substances, was evasive and misleading. This gave them the green light to try to nail his ass to the wall ?

At least they got him to pay $4000 in fines and 250 hrs community service as well [:o)][:o)]

Shit really?! [:o)] I think Clemens was guilty all the day long! They all were...

But my motto is let them do what the fuck they want to do anyway. Let them all get sauced up. Who cares? I mean I can't pitch like clemens and I damn sure can't hit like Bonds and I am dripping in sauce! :D

You know what's crazy, and speaks to how great a hitter Ted Williams was.

In this era of ped usage no one has even come close to his single season .406 batting average. He may have hit .700 with a low dose of test[:o)]

The government didn't even come close to convicting Clemens. The jurors were disgusted by government witch-hunt:

“You have these cutthroat thieves, murderers, drug dealers and drug addicts and you decide to go after somebody who had a reputation for trying to do his best and be the best that he can be, and you attack him,” said Robinson-Paul.

Robinson-Paul felt the government’s actions against a private citizen over something so petty was frightening. She noted that only wealthy individuals would have been able to afford a defense against such government over-reaching.

And Robinson-Paul probably had no idea how much the government actually spent in this particular steroid witch-hunt. A reported $10,548,772 of taxpayer money was spent pursuing the Clemens’ steroid case according to Darren Rovell, the host for CNBC’s Sports Biz. That included funds for 179 interviews, 93 agents and 65 interview locations.

Bradford Weaver, an administrative assistant for the Canadian Embassy, felt the government’s case was overreaching and should have never occurred.

“The witnesses for the prosecution were, uh, how does one put it, kind of wanting, if you will. … It was quite lacking,” Weaver told the Associated Press. “If that’s what they were going to go with, then they should probably not have pursued the case in the first place if that’s all they had, you know.”

Weaver added that not a single juror thought Clemens was proven guilty of any of the charges at any point during the 10 hours of delibertions. All the jurors were unanimous in their decision to acquit from the very beginning.

Yeah, it's really shocking that feds spent $75 million and couldn't prove Barry Bonds knowingly lied about using steroids. Or $10 million to prove Roger Clemens lied about his steroid use.

I think it's B.S. Everybody knew what was going on (p.e.d.) and it didn't matter as long as the stadium was full of people. The steroid era brought baseball back, when Sammy Sosa and Mark Maguire was having the home-run race during the 1996 season. IMO if there was never a "steriod era" in baseball it wouldn't have 1/3 of the fanbase they have now.

Well it meant so much to the nation security.

Very true & then to pick out star players, many of which never tested +, and go after them!! Funny thing is the pitcher who pitched the ball that Bonds broke the record (single season or career cant remember which) on tested +. Bet nobody knows his name & was he dragged in front of congressional hearings??

I know. Right now they are getting A-Rod. He got a 215 game suspension and never failed a test. He admitted to using something when he was signed with the Rangers. The Players Association has an agreement that it's 50 game suspension for the 1st failed p.e.d. test, 100 games for the second , and so on.

A-Rod likely used steroids. That's hardly a big deal when compared to the actions taken by MLB to go after A-Rod. They paid $125k to a convicted bank robber for documents stolen from the Biogenesis whistleblower (who also stole the documents from the Biogenesis clinic). The MLB lead investigator had sex with a potential witness (former Biogenesis nurse) in the A-Rod case. Seriously. Read about here:
