Thought this might be the best place to post this.

I have a problem with my abs cramping. It doesn't matter what exercise I do it seems I will cramp up hard after my first set. I don't cramp up anywhere else on my body except an occasional calf here and there and that's been over 6 months.

I do abs after cardio and lifting weights when I do them.

Low sodium, low potassium(I eat at least two bananas a day)?

I'm at a loss here!

I would like to know also. I also get ab cramps but mine usually occur after the workout. It will happen sometimes during but mostly immediately after for me.

I was socked to learn what the recommended daily amount of K+ is and how much people actually consume. I've seen recommendations as high as 5000mg/day and I've seen estimates that most people consume less than 500mg per day. Add to that someone like you who is exercising intensely and I think it's a possibility - although why just your abs/calf and not any other muscles?

There is something about abs and calves IDMD. I don't know what, but back in football, guys would cramp up all the time in the beginning of the season when it was hot. 90% of them were calves.

We used to keep pickle juice on the sidelines to drink if you where cramping. I don't know why, but it worked.

Mands, you're 250+ brotha, 2 bananas is like a ritz cracker to a normal person. I'd try some potassium tablets to go with the bananas. See how that works out.

I buy one of those large drink pickel jars. and drink the juice after my work outs. also try drinking more water with lemons. lemons help neutralize lactic acid build up. also check you diets and see if the foods you are eating are acidic

Okay guys thanks for the feedback. I will try what you have mentioned above. I didn't do abs at all last week because I didn't want to get damn cramps again. I will try them this week and see what happens.

Sometime before or after a workout I drink some gatorade, helps me keep hydrated and from cramping up. Also if you haven't trained abs in a while that could be the problem. When I haven't done legs in a while and I go hard in the gym, when I come home my hamstrings cramp up and my legs feel sore.

I need to be consuming 4700mg of potassium a day. A banana has like 450mg. Looks like I gotta up my potassium.

Mands:

White Beans, Cantaloupe, Spinach, Apricots, and yogurt for potassium :) :)

Bananas are kinda low on the potassium totem pole...They contain around 400mg, while cantaloupe has 1,400mg...

This should do the trick mands:

Sounds good! What I can't get from natural foods I will look into those :)

Thanks,

I get ab cramps when using Tren as well as Var…

Taurine helps and potassium.

Just be careful with the potassium. It could cause other problems… Dehydration and GI issues.
