I used my HCG got a phone call which side tracked me, one thing led to another an hour went by. So my HCG was out of the refrigerator for one hour, should I toss it????. Normally I would not even think about it, I would just toss it, but it is a brand new bottle.

Ask your Pharmacist. But I believe it should be okay for a number of hours at room temperature.

Do you know what actually happens to it as a result of being unrefrigerated? Does it get contaminated, or does it break down?

Thats what Im wondering. I just noticed there's an insert in the box, I will chekc it out and report back if there is any relivant info.

We're not even 100% why hCG is only good for 30-60 days in the refrigerator, as there are two known reasons:

1) The hCG becomes less effective with time.
2) The bacteria growth increases with time. Kind of like how you can only keep orange juice in the refrigerator for 1-2 months after its been opened.

I believe that it breaks down. In other words, it wont hurt you, it just wont do any good. I don't recall where I heard that from. It may have been from Shippen, but I don't recall.

Once when I was travelling this summer, I forgot to transfer my loaded syringe to the refrigerator until late in the day. It was next to a freezer pack, but the freezer pack had melted at some point during the day. I injected it anyway that evening.

Sometime during the next day I felt a little tired. Then I remembered what happened and realized that the HCG went bad from the heat. Fortunately, it was only one syringe and a one day trip and the rest of my HCG was safe in the fridge at the main location where I was staying.

My hcg comes with the instructions to store at controlled room temp 59 to 86 degrees. After reconsitution to refrigerate 36 to 46 degrees. I couldn't find information on how quickly it goes bad or ineffective when left out.
