1st anavar cycle

I am 4 weeks into taking my first anavar cycle. I am taking 10mg tabs. I'm prepping for a bikini competition I have in September. Although I am looking to gain muscle and preserve what I have, I also want to lose fat and lean down concidering I have a show. However, I started at 145 and now since taking anavar I am at 156. I do feel thicker and I am confused to why my weight is going up so quickly. I'm not sure if this is due to the anavar and if it will start to regulate in my body or if I'm going to continue to gain weight.

Sounds like water weight. Feeling bloated? Increase your water intake and watch your sodium.

Im with you, believe me lol. I have been a sodium nazi myself here lately... You start to realize it's just in everything when you have to pay attention.

Cutting it out some should help, try to get as much water down everyday as you can too. Might be counterintuitive since you're already feeling bloated but it does help.

Increased glycogen in muscles = more weight.

Also, Anavar is an anabolic steroid. Not a fat burner. It promotes lean muscle mass.

You really can't expect to not gain weight on Anavar, due to it promoting the growth of lean muscle mass, even while eating at a deficit.

Try not to get too hung up on the scale. Instead, try to focus on the measure of body composition (ratio of lean muscle mass to body fat). I know it's easier said than done. ;)
 
1. Did you labmax your Anavar?
2. Like Eman suggested increase your water intake AT LEAST 1 gallon a day and cut back on your sodium.
 
High sodium intake will not necessarily cause water retention - big fluctuations in sodium intake is how sodium can cause some to hold water though. As long as sodium intake is somewhat steady I wouldn't concern yourself with it until you get closer to your show, and I highly doubt it's the problem here.

I should also mention the effects of diet on water retention are over-stated a lot of the times with the exception of certain situations like a contest prep. You really don't hear drug free lifters complaining about holding too much water unless they're doing some egregious shit. AAS is usually the culprit for these things.

How has body composition improved since starting? How about strength in the gym?

Don't have much to add to Crystals and weighted chin up's posts...but damn girl! Whatever the weight on the scale is, you're carrying it awesomely! What a bod :)
 
I just started on my cycle this week at 5mg of powder a day and I've been feeling slightly bloated. My diet has been pretty clean and I've kept my sodium pretty low so the scale has been about the same for me at around 117 lbs. I do get what you mean about feeling bloated, but definitely focus more on the lean muscle gain rather than the scale.

Have you experienced any side effects yet?

Back acne and I was very very tired the first week. Also I do have some headaches off and on occasionally.
