5% Testosterone Cream

I have a 5% testosterone cream (compared to Androgel's 1%.)

It is intended for use on the testicles, but there is no way in hell that I will ever apply something like this to my balls.

It contains 50mg/g of testosterone.

Is anyone here smart enough to do the math to figure out how to use this on the wrist to get the same effect as a 5g dose of Androgel?

Off the top of my head:

5g of 1% testosterone = 1g of 5% testosterone

- Androgel packet: 50mg total testosterone in 5g gel. 10% absorption over 24 hr.
- Andromel gel: 50mg total testosterone in 1g cream. ??% absorption over 24 hr.
- 1 gram of water = approx. 1/4 tsp.
Therefore, 1/4 tsp. of this cream will equal a 5g packet of Androgel.

Is it Androforte??

Products Q & A AndroForte Testosterone Cream for Men

http://www.lawleybasecamp.com/media/pdf/pi/androforte-5-pi.pdf

"AndroForte® 2%, AndroForte® 5% Testosterone Cream for men is applied to the scrotum. The cream is massaged into to scrotal skin and usually is fully absorbed within 30 seconds of application. There are no benefits of applying AndroForte® 5% and AndroForte® 2% to the penis. Often there is a 'warm' feeling of the scrotum after applying AndroForte® 5% and AndroForte® 2% - this is due to a dilation of the blood vessels in the scrotal skin. This effect is not unpleasant and usually lasts for only a few minutes."

"A. Scrotal skin is up to 40 times more receptive to the absorption of testosterone than when applied to skin areas such as the back, body and arms. AndroForte® Testosterone Cream for men is unique because it is easily be applied to the scrotum without complications whereas other transdermal testosterone preparations on the market cannot be applied to the genitals. AndroForte® is a 5% Testosterone Cream compared to the 1% testosterone gels commercially available and therefore being more concentrated AndroForte® allows for a smaller unit dose. On a $ cost per daily dose AndroForte® treatment costs between US$1 -2 per day whereas other competitor products approximate to US$7 - 8/day. Ref: www.drugstore.com"

Why would you buy something that is meant for scrotal application if you don't intend to apply it there??? Inquiring minds would like to know?

Ultimately, if you want to know the true dose comparison you'd need to have a study of AndroGel and this specific product, as many different things could influence the bioavailability of a TD preparation. I doubt that such bioequivalency study been done since the compound was not meant for this application.

I would expect that the higher concentration of testosterone and lower surface area of skin used would negatively influence absorption to some degree.

I must be missing something. Why wouldn't you want to use it as intended. This is the answer to our prayers. I didn't know that they had finally made a version that could be applied in such a convenient place. This should solve the problem of lower DHT that comes with injections.
Is this available for prescrition in the US? Does your insurance pay for this?

I'm surprised that I'm getting questions about "off label" use/dosage. This is a message board full of people who take womens' breast cancer medication (Arimidex), routinely inject hCG in a way contraindicated by the patient information sheet (subcutaneous vs. the recommended intramuscular,) use Clomid to raise T and even sometimes subcutaneously inject testosterone ester preparations designed for intramuscular use.

Not to mention, I have local MDs like Dr. Shippen prescribing me entirely experimental things like testosterone dissolved in propylene glycol for sublingual application.

The short answer is that I don't desire an increase in DHT, and I'm also not comfortable applying the cream base to an area of skin that can absorb chemicals "up to 40 times" better than thicker areas of skin. It is likely that a number of the chemicals in the cream base are not approved for use in the U.S. I'm not willing to take the risk of absorbing cosmetic preservatives through scrotal skin, not to mention the constituents of the 95% worth of the medication which is just chemical carrier. (Contains BHT.)

DragonRider,

It is not available in the US. I had it shipped in from Australia two years ago.

cvictorg,

Yes, it is the drug you mentioned. It is three times cheaper than AndroGel.

Seriously, and those talking about taking as directed. The OP has not even specified the drug. Some 5% creams state shoulders torsos, and I THINK some say scrotal. Hell, I am not even sure if any of them say scrotal. This may be a docs personal off label use for all I know. I have seen testim 50mg/application and it says shoulders and stay away from scotum.,

I think Bill is probably absolutely correct with a wise rev'd down and politically correct response. So spare him the debate about nothing.

I also speculate whatever horse shit about the nut sack being so absorbing is full of it too. After all, If this were true I would be applying my Copenhagen down there.... Hmmm:rolleyes:

I can share from my personal exprience that I absorbed the Testoderm scrotal patch quite well while my use of Androgel at maximum dose did not absorb well enough to keep my levels consistantly over 400ng/dl.

I hate to hear that. The best I have ever done on HRT was when I was on the scrotal patch and to me it would be a huge plus to apply this to an area where it wouldn't rub off on my children and grandchildren.

I used andromen forte last year. It was the first product i used. I apply it to my ballsack as directed. It gave me a very good libido boost. But i only used it for a few weeks before switching to a doctor prescribed androderm patch.

I didn't want to continue using it because the company is in Australia and it takes about 2 weeks for shipping and i was concerned "what if the company goes under?" (no pun intended) lol

I also wasn't very comfortable with the scortal application because i felt like longterm it may affect my fertility more than applying to upper arms/shoulders. Because the testosterone is directly hitting the testes which can't be good....

But it did give me a very good libido boost.

I started AndroForte 5 days ago, however it is the 2% version. Three days ago I had clarity of thought that I hadn't experienced or years. Libido is up (it couldn't have dropped any further!) but depression is still a severe problem. So is tiredness, but it has been a tough week.

It is easy to apply. I am applying twice a day, in smaller doses, but I don't believe I have yet worked out how to do it consistently well.

I had no expectation of a quick reaction. It could be a placebo effect, but I doubt it.

I am optimistic.

I'd give it more than 5days.

Sometimes depression is a seperate issue and you need to tackle it seperately.

A good start is excercising everyday and eating right and taking good vitamins.
