Accutane Experiences?

Hey Guys,
Yes I searched around and saw some positive support and some warnings for it. I'm well aware of the risks and liver monitoring needs when using it.

I even ran a short course of it for a couple months and saw slight reduction as a result.

I've tried every treatment I could find including all kinds of soaps, protocols, and topical applications. I've struggled with acne all my life and the extremely painful, deep, cystic acne started on my back like crazy on any dose of TRT (I'm on doc prescribed TRT due to actual clinical hypogonadism long before using AAS or anything like that).

All that said, I'm asking about your experiences (and not looking for cautionary tales unless it's your experience, I'm aware of the lawsuits, etc) and I'm thinking of working up to 30mg a day for a few months to see what it does. I'd prefer to take the longer, slower approach if that will be effectual.

What doses did you take?
What side effects did you have while using it?
What side effects persisted after stopping dosage?
How well did it resolve your acne?

Thanks guys!

The search function works great.

But I'm feeling generous so I'll spoon feed you.

Accutane is typically prescribed under a dermatologists care. This includes blood tests to monitor liver values. Don't take any oral steroids while running it. It works by shrinking the sebaceous glands in your skin. These glands cease to produce the sebrum that promotes acne. When you first take accutane, these glands will secrete oil and you'll notice a brief period where your skin is worse before getting better.

Accutane can be used for temporary treatment, or you can run a coarse that reaches a cumulative dose equivalent to 120mg/kg of body weight. So if you weigh 220 pounds, you would take accutane at a daily dose until your total dose adds up to 12,000 mg - so at 40 mg/day that would be 300 days. Upon reaching that dose, cystic acne is diminished significantly or cured.

The worst side effect could be permanent IBS. So hopefully you don't get to enjoy that for the rest of your life.

Other than that, because of the liver toxicity you will feel lethargic just like taking orals. Skin can be excessively dry and your lips will no doubt chap like you have never experienced before (preemptive use of lip balm or vaseline will help this). And it can also make you more susceptible to sunburn so be cautious if you take it now.

Accutane raws are notoriously difficult to work with because they absorb moisture from the air and harden up like concrete. I'd recommend pharma only because of this, the research companies and UGLs can't make accurately dosed products after the raws solidify.

Read as much as you can because this shit can suck. I took between 20 mg and 80 mg per day for over a year straight. No IBS but I was lethargic and until I got use to it, my lips were painfully chapped. I get very minimal acne now.

This treatment is for the deep cystic acne you described (looks more like boils) and not the simple white heads or blackheads.

You want to run it until you reach the cumulative dose. Don't just run it for a few weeks and quit or you'll spin your wheels and not really achieve anything.

If I did it again, I'd probably go through a dermatologist to be monitored... And that's saying something because I avoid doctors at all costs.

Have chapstick in your pocket, always. You'll need it constantly. Get moisturizing soap and use a good lotion after showers. Otherwise, it wasn't too bad... Still get acne sometimes when I up my doses but it is significantly reduced, emphasis on *significantly.

How much do you weigh?

I'll spoon feed you how to do it and how to achieve perfect results:

Total dose: 120/mg kg.
Take 20mg day. No more. Yes that could be close to 2 years of accutane. Don't worry it's worth it and it's gonna be very mild because of the low daily dose.

No orals steroids no excessive drinking, check your liver value every 2-3 months.
Chapstick or when I get home I'll tell you a cream to buy that is a god send for the lips. Remember that if you go under the sun you will easily burn yourself.

Me and my wife both did it and we regret not doing it earlier. We would have saved ourselves years of misery and pain.

Remember to not take multivitamin with vitamin A during your accutane cycle.

Any question feel free to ask.

Yes there are side effect but except the dry skin and cut on the lips and easy burning under the sun I didn't experienced any other side effect. Liver value were perfect. Most of the horror stories you hear on the internet are from mentally disturbed ppl OR high dosage cycles.

Still you should read and decide for yourself

Thanks guys, I did find the same thing regarding dosages, so its not like I didn't lookup anything. Your experience at the recommended dosages is helpful, thanks.

I developed horrible cystic acne from running a high tren cycle. I went on doctor-prescribed Accutane (Epuris actually, but same thing). The course was 80 mg/day for 6 months.

The accutane worked, but I was dumb and took it while blasting, so that probably slowed down its effectiveness. I finished that accutane course almost a year ago and even now I still see the positive effects from it. My skin gets drier quicker than before, which is a sign that my sebum glands have shrunken from the accutane (which is what you want).

That said, accutane wrecked my lipids. It didn't touch my liver, but my lipids were absolutely demolished. Didn't help that I was blasting and bulking during this time as well. So if you're going to do this, do it while cruising and keep a close eye on lipids and liver. Also stay out of the sun because accutane will make your skin much more sensitive.

I used accurate at 20mg a day for like 4 weeks and it cleared up all my acne and it never came back I get a zit here and there but nothing like it was not even close. U don’t need a lot of it to get results and after u use a cycle of it the acne shouldn’t ever come back

It's one of the only medications that actually works forever, and is permanent in its effects on the sebaceous glands. I wouldn't self-administer this one, dermatologists will prescribe it quickly with monitoring if you have cystic acne.

I'm now at 2.900mg, my acne is 95% cured, but im close to done with that shit.. my job performance suffered massivelly because of that shit, i believe...

however, i still take like 20mg 2x per week, because im stupid..

Once u complete treatment with ur ur acne should never come back. At least that’s what I’ve experienced. And ud be surprised how many ifbb pros take 20mg a day or accutane it’s really common
