RADO opens doping labs

[SIZE=-1]AFRICA Zone Five Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (RADO) yesterday launched the programme to set up a state of the art anti-doping laboratory in the region. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]The laboratory which is expected to be set in selected local universities in Kenya, will be used for tests for the ten-member countries. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]RADO board chairman Kipchoge Keino said a lot is needed to be done on the side of sports to educate federations and youth on drugs so that they don’t fall victims of doping. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]“Our mission is to promote and coordinate the fight against doping in sports in the region. We don’t want our athletes to be banned from events,” said Kipchoge. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]Currently there are only two laboratories in Africa accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency to handle all the doping tests in the continent. The two are based in South Africa and Tunisia. ...[/SIZE]
