All signs point to me having issues with this. I have an appointment this Monday. Bad pain walking mainly, pain along the lower part of shin and into the insertion at the ankle along the path of the tendon.

This appears to be pretty rare, anyone ever have this and what helped?

You're a runner(ish) right? Find a doctor that specializes in running athletes. Knock on wood I've never been injured from running. Do you heal strike?

Going to see a Ortho Specialist who also is a runner. A big no to heel strike, been running in neutral shoes for years and years and midfoot striker.

This has sort of been a slow process, I remember having some minor pain months ago. But it really got bad after one run weeks ago.

Good on you for no heel strike! I worked on it long time ago as well. Do you run strictly road/concrete? That beats me up way more than trail running.

Damn dude, I just read up on it a bit. Definitely sounds painful. Do you foam roll at all? If not go buy a piece of PVC pipe and wrap it with a bit of tape. IMO works way better than the crap you can buy in stores (too soft), although the PVC hurts way more.

99% percent of my 10 years of running have been on concrete. Never had a problem until now, including zero knee issues. No trails around here tho I could run on grass but then I have to be extremely careful not to roll my ankles.

I have a foam roller but it's hard to angle it where the pain is. Tried massaging a little, but trying to be careful to not aggravate it worse. Stretching calf does no good, and a lot of different things make it worse. I'll be careful until my appointment and official diagnosis.

Thanks for the responses!

I use a Roll Recovery R8 Roller at home. And then whenever I go to the gym and need it, I borrow their Theragun.

And that massage ball looks good. I'm cheap and acquired my neighbor's kids softball.

Made a peanut with softballs for my back. The smaller ball on that one is perfect for legs, arms, and feet though.

Soooo good.

The same as shin splints?? I’ve been running for 17 years, not because I want to, and have dealt with many different injuries from running on concrete. The bottom line is it’s high impact on the muscles and bones and bound to happen. Brooks running shoes saved my life

ATT is different from shin splints. Yeah, concrete is brutal, however this is my first injury leading to me having to stop running. Going to try and see someone on Friday in addition. Will advise what the deal is.

I'd wear your nornal running shoes to the appointment. Maybe the doc can see what you're running in and make recommendations.

Tendonitis is treated by taking a break from whats causing it and strengthening the muscles around the injury.

i had petella tendonitis and thats what I did. I had to stop playing basketball or anytime I jumpes it happenend. I did jump rope the other day 3 years later and no pain. But I guaentee if I play a game of bball and jump 10-20x to grab a rebound it would come back and hurt.

TRY biking or swimming for a while

edit- i had to strengthen the muscles starting from ground up. Now I squat and deadlift no problem. 400+.

So doctor appointment tomorrow. Been 3 full days since running, longest I've gone in 3 years.

Pain has been same, but today its noticeably better. Thinking about running a little but probably won't. I'm hardheaded with injuries ,I'll admit that. Will update tomorrow...
