anti lock brakes

can you disconnect the fuckin things? i hit the slightest bump/pothole while braking and the pedal jumps back at me and no brakes, what a fuckin joke..

its an accident waiting to happen..

I've never heard of that, doesn't sound like the abs, the brake pedal should never move, all abs does is tap you pads, so you can turn while you break, instead of locking up.

its def the anti lock brakes i've talk to a couple people about it bro - i just never asked if it was possible to disconnect them..

you say it taps your pads? when i'm braking and hit a bump it feels like my pedal it tapping, its like a hard vibration..

thats what i was afraid of.. computers in cars suck cock..

Thats why I drive a 1976 F-100 4wd with a 390 automatic.Super sharp truck and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work on it.
swoool

the reason that you'r feeling the tapping in your pedal might be that when you hit a good bump or post hole while braking, the tire loses contact with the road for a split second. thats enough time for the computer to sense that the wheel is locking up since it doesnt have the force of the car pushing it down the road. the ABS feature kicks in and you feel the tapping in the pedal.

on my old 89 bronco, there was something in the rear end that controlled the ABS. it broke and i never fixed it. on a 2000 model, there might be computer problems as in todays cars/trucks, computers are alot more active then in an 89.

have a nice day

i don't think you can do it bro, although i'm not positive. all i know is my old man was a mechanic and he's always complained about ABS, always says he'd disconnect it if he could... this is coming from the same guy who would still rather not buy a car if it has electric windows because it's "one fucking more thing that will break". never realized how right the old man was until i had to pay $150 for a new regulator..

joe you're correct thats exactly whats happening - even worse if its wet out.. The computer is much to sensitive - there has got to be a way to disconnect the ABS i know the system is somewhat controlled by a computer but in even of some type of computer failure i know for sure you won't loose your brakes. i mean come on, you have a master cylinder and 4 callipers hydrolically opperated - i don't give a rats ass if disconnecting the abs turns on my check engine light - i will remove the bulb..
