any of you guys ever file bankruptcy

It wont take 7 years to buy a house, but you will be bent over and raped like a goat when you apply for a mortgage, car loan, or any other type of credit. As an example, right now mortgage rates for people with good/excellent credit are in the 6% range. For people with bad credit or bankruptcies, you are looking at 9-10+%.

If there is a way for you to get things taken care of without filing bankruptcy, that is the way you want to go. Your city should have some credit counseling services that can help you set up a plan to get things in order without filing bankruptcy. Check around and also check with the BBB and state attorney generals office in order to find a reputable establishment.

Within a year of my finalization, bro, banks were mailing and emailing me pre-approved credit card forms. But don't fall for them. The interests are high as hell and it's not worth it. If you want one, then pick one and only one to stick with. The more you have, the worst it looks on your record.

You'll be all right. Also a piece of advice.......You may be able to file with a paralegal, as I did, than a lawyer. You'll save about a grand.

Im in the process of filing myself... Total its going to cost me $815.00... my lawyer has a webpage with some good info about Bankruptcy on it... Ill PM it to you..later

bro I have never dont it but dont worrie, many people do it, you can get credit within months after its final, here is what you do keep one credit card that is the lowest on balance and keep paying them that way you still have someone f=reporting credit. as far as mortgage rates go I am at right now 5% and its a fix rate like BS said you will get fucked but If you shop around for mortgage you can get good rates, If you want to know more about bankruptcy PM me i have a uncle who is a lawyer and does bankruptcies. there is al law againest harrassing phone calls from bill collecters, here is a letter you can mail to the bill collecters and they must stop once they receive the letter, I advice to send it certified. bro if they deceide to call you after receiving the letter you sue the fuckers and you can get up 2000 per creditor and if you have a good lawyer you get more. let me know if you need help

bro i do mortgages, and it woun't take 7 years. it depends on what you file. 13 you can do it in about 1 year if you have credit reestablished. but, the rate will probably be about 7.5% to 8% in an adjustable rate 2 year fixed mortgage. And you will also have a prepayment penalty of at least 2 years which means you will have to pay a percentage of your equity back to the lender if you refinance and pay off that loan. chapter 7 is at least 2 years. But, if you have chapter 7, you would want to wait that long to repair your credit anyways.
Also, make sure that when your bankruptcy is dismissed you pull your credit about a month later. This will let you know if any of the debts in your credit report are showing that you are still delinquent, even though they should have been reported as included in bankruptcy. If they are, you should then proceed to file disputes with the three major credit reporting agencies experian, transunion, and equifax, by downloading the dispute docs from their website. Fill these out and mail them to the credit agencies along with a copy of the bankruptcy and you should be ok. it will take about 1 month to show that the account is now non-delinquent.

very important.

if you want to qualify people for a very sweet rate like an fha mortgage or anything else, do not, i repeat, do not be late on any debt after your bankruptcy. look at my thread on credit to see how to boost your credit. take care and good luck.
