Anyone have experience with teeth whitening?

Anyone on here have any experience with teeth whitening?

Thinking of either getting my teeth whitened professionally done at the dentist of getting crest whitening strips professional effects luxe 3D white instead?

Not sure which would be the best one to choose of the two?

Then thinking of getting the oral-b Pro 3 electric toothbrush and just buy different heads for it considering electric is better.

For toothpaste then use senodyne pronamel toothpaste to use pre-treatment and post-treatment which I'm assuming is the best toothpaste you can get to use on a daily basis after teeth whitening.

Any advice, suggestions, how to keep my teeth as safe and healthy as possible after treatment, maintaining results etc?

Dentist 1000%.

No comparison to the do it yourself stuff.

Basically they apply stuff to your teeth, hit it with high powered UV light, then repeat. after each round they should show you the results and you decide if you want to keep going.

It will hurt your gums a bit, but the results are well worth it.

Buy straws so you can keep that dazzling white for as long as possible.

Coffee with dairy in it is the worst as far as staining, so really use a straw when drinking that.

I've used crest whitening strips in the past. Works just fine. Follow the instructions and repeat as needed. Biggest advice, don't overdo it!!

I do have to say I have healthy teeth, thankfully, so that may have played a role.
My teeth are extremely healthy everytime I go for a checkup.

Want to keep my teeth in the best health possible before getting them whitened.

When I get them done, I'll post up the results.

Just want opinions, advice, information, etc first to make sure I make the best decision possible when getting my teeth whitened.

Anything not done in a professional's office is only temporarily effective. A professional will be able to tell you the underlying cause of your tooth discolouration and the best possible solution. If it's food stains and all, then the strips will help, till teeth get stained again with whatever deposit is responsible.

Any decent dentist would advise whitening only after a cleaning, which removes surface stains.

The way professional teeth whitening works is by temporarily enlarging the pores in enamel with intense UV, so the bleach can get to the dentin where stains are. Pores reclose over a few days, so they're especially vulnerable during that time, and they'll tell you to avoid stain causing food/drink and use a straw for anything but water.

But enamel is always porous to a degree, which is how the stains get in there to begin with, so using a straw to avoid restaining them with coffee/tea is common advice. The results are really remarkable and change your whole look.

You got me hooked now

I rang them and they have 3 options.

Cheapest is like £200
Middle range £300
Most expensive is £500

Apparently the difference is if you spend £500 you are guaranteed the shade you want, and no sensitivity at all.

I never dug into the differences between methods. $80 in Bangkok and they keep going until you're happy with the results. Definitely irritates gums, but that doesn't last long. They cover them with something to protect them from the UV.

Ive had my teeth professionally whitened several times, and ive also used crest strips 3d white , i found the professional treatment "slightly better". But nothing lasts forever, its a ongoing thing ,

Oh it doesn't last forever. You can always restain them.

By what can be achieved in 15 minutes professionally is far more than screwing around with at home strips, in my experience.

Total exposure time to stains is also important. People drinking 2 cups of coffee a day without brushing immediately after, or drinking a glass of red wine before bed without brushing. Will cause staining.

Whatever whitening procedure you choose, gotta adjust those underlying behaviors or your teeth will continue to get stained.

If you're hell bent on DIY at-home treatments, products like this have a lot of good reviews

I tried whitening strips a few times. Some people (myself included) get intolerable cold intolerance. Can't even sip cold water.

The LED one is 10 minutes a day but it's less convenient than strips. You have that device in your mouth the entire time.

Ive used the white strips and they did fine...lasted a long time and I'm a hvy coffee drinker (no straw). I also used a product called plus white that did amazingly well. I have healthy teeth and gums and that didnt change. No appt needed, do as you need when you need.

I had it professionally done at a dentist. Probably like 10 years ago, I think it cost like $200. The process was somewhat painful but more annoying. Lots of random pain surges that lasted maybe 1 second but they came about every minute or two. Almost like I was getting shocked. Took maybe one hour to complete the process. My teeth have always been super sensitive so maybe thats why. Then for about a week after they feeling different, with a little pain here and there. It worked though. Whitened my teeth so I was happy with it.
