I've been all over the Caribbean and i know how many fakes are going around. I don't smoke cigars but i thought i'd bring some back for my uncle,so i found this cuban guy who sells real ones. He had a big store and was explaning to me what to look for. He said that it is even hard to get real ones in cuba. He showed me a license with a seal on it,and he told me to look for that seal when i buy them. The seal isn't on the cigar,it will be on the wall or somewhere in the store. He said that the people with that license and seal are the only ones that carry the real ones. Well anyway,my friend is in Aruba now and he is going to buy cigars. I told him what i know before he left but he always gets caught up in peoples bullshit and now he is going to buy some. He tells me that everyone tells him their real. The taxi driver told him..surprise :) the tourists are telling him their real.. surprise and the people who work in the store that he is going to buy them in,are telling him their real... surprise surprise :) I forget what the seal looks like. Does anyone have any info on these cigars? thanks

what up dog?
I wish I could remember what that damn thing looks like. When I was in Jamaica, this guy in a store had them in there,in a special climate controlled case by themselves.I told him I wouldn't be able to declare them at customs and take them back home. He said he had a way around it. He took a seal off of a cigar from another brand and said he would put them on all the cubans, and put the cubans in the other cigar brand box. The seal slid right down the cigar he claimed to be a cuban, and you couldn't tell it apart from the others.
I know this isn't helping you, but atleast I'm thinking.

Like you said, authentic Cuban cigars are hard to get even in Cuba. Their sale is regulated the governing body Habanos. They change the seals now and then to try and control fakes. If you want to make sure you're getting the real deal, make sure you get them from Habanos House retailer.

yeah, i was in cuba 2 years ago. fakes were everywhere. you need to go to controlled shops and buy from them. we bought them on the street because the shops were closed and they were the worst cigars ever. they were about as good as phillies, except the craftsmanship was great, taste was awful. good luck

I have a real one in my drawer at home. It has a label on it but I can't remember what the label says/looks like off the top of my head.

def overrated. dominicans are just as good.
I don't think it has anything to do with the quality of the cuban cigar. I think the reason people want them so bad is because they are very hard to come by. Because of this, they are worth alot of money from what I can gather here in the states. But I am no expert.
