The cpu game says there is a chainsaw for a weapon. I am currently on godlike and have still nver seen the damn thing

I've played it...never with cheat codes though. I've used the chainsaw. Have you tried looking for it without being in godlike mode?
there is a cheapcode which allows you to have all weapons at once...chainsaw is there too.
