Anyone with sleep apnea??

I think im getting a sleep study done. My father and brother have sleep apnea, wife says I snore bad. I've always thought I snorted out of being overtired and not apnea. But the issue I'm having lately is I feel so fucking tired during the day, like beyond just recovery from workouts kind of tired. I've heard that guys who wear CPAP machines say it's a night and day difference in energy levels during the day!! I was also thinking in terms of growing, a steady flow of oxygen has to help with recovery and growth I'm thinking. Anyone with sleep apnea who was treated feel free to chime in, thanks -Demon

The govt tries to disqualify me every 2 yrs on my physical because of my size. And its only going to get worse if they start enforcing the BMI they covet so much. So far so good on the sleep apnea. They havent landed anything that stuck. My BMI is 33.6 at the moment. Which is deathly obese, lol. Anyone above normal BMI and or a large(er) neck is suspected of sleep apnea. And yes i have heard from plenty of folks their glad they went thru with it. In your case it is likely genetic. As sleep apnea isnt just about size alone. Anyone can have it. Fat, skinny, muscular. No rhyme or reason. Best of luck

If you have sleep apnea, the difference when you start cpap/bipap is amazing. I was able to get away with using an oral appliance for a while which pushes your jaw forward but now on back on bipap and notice the difference.

If I don't use the machine it feels like a hangover of sorts the next day.

Do the sleep study.

thanks!!! And a big thanks to everyone who replied to me. I have a Doc visit Friday and while I'm in there I'm going to schedule the sleep study to be done. I'd rather get on top of it now and do something than to have an issue that goes unaddressed. My DAd ignored it for years and now he's on all kinds of heart medication

I did sleep study just a few nights ago. What type of study they do depends on your insurance coverage... I did mine at home. It wasn't fun but it wasn't that bad. I haven't gotten results yet but I fully expect to have a CPAP coming my way soon.

Be careful relying on the home studies, the home study I did came back negative. I'm sure the technology is better now but 15+ years ago it was garbage.

If it comes back negative I'll insist it be looked into again... I have a ton of symptoms and it's recently got a lot worse with bad jaw issues.

Good to know though, thanks.

Jaw issues??? Please explain. I assume I have sleep apnea as I snore like a freight train and my wife kicks me in the night. Sometimes because I'm too loud and sometimes because she can't hear me. The past few years or so I've been having some "jaw issues" in the morning so I was wondering what you mean.

I don't really know much about it yet other than my lower jaw is pushed out so much that my lower teeth are almost past my tops... Saw a dentist this week and she says sleep apnea can cause it. It just fucks all around with your lower jaw... Combined with me flexing my jaw when I lift heavy, it's gotten to a point it's not going back to where it should be.

Chiropractor says he thinks he can work it back, he's seen it and done it before.

Or maybe the hGH has just given me a bulldog jaw... Lol.

Oh ok. I wake up in the morning and have a "lock" in my jaw where I can't bite all the way down until I "exercise" it a few times with a chewing motion combined with a side to side motion.

When I was young, I had a severe underbite. Looked like a cave man. I can still stick my lower jaw out, with my teeth clenched, enough to stick the tip of my finger between the top and bottom teeth. I had to wear a retainer for a year or so as a kid to correct it.

I highly suggest a sleep study... Or check into a sleep guard at least.

I use a anti snore mouth piece. Works. I wish I could get a apnea machine without a script. Fuck that shit...lemme just buy one.

I feel your pain. Gotta renew my dot in April. Every 2 years its the same shit for me.. Dr says your a big boy , how big is your neck? Have you ever had a sleep study? Do you snore? Are you on blood pressure meds? I'm like just give me the damn physical! fucking government make it harder and harder every year for us!

Look into a site called second wind cpap. I haven't ordered from them yet but I think you can order without a script. I put a unit into the shopping cart and they asked for payment info with no mention of prescription. They have new and used (cleaned) units

You could probably find one if you look... They're expensive though I think. I can have almost any illicit drug delivered to my doorstep, I imagine a CPAP couldn't be too difficult.
