Are 0.22 filters and BA all you need for sterility?

Assuming everything after the filter is sterile, I guess that's "all you need."

If you're going syringe filter -> sterilized sealed vials you should be good. Any other method requires more sterilization. Also, BA isn't really there for sterility, it's there more as a preventative for microbe growth.

To the best of my knowledge yes.

I take my vials out of the oven with the stoppers. Put a sterile stopper into a sterile vial . Using a 22.5 filter, I inject sterile gear into sterile vials. Then I cap them. Sterile? I think so. I use up to 2% ba to keep it clean.

yes,
Sterile Syringe filters come in a number of different pore sizes, the pore size required to achieve 100% sterility is 0.22um. The following is from wikipedia regarding bacteria sizes : Bacteria display a wide diversity of shapes and sizes, called morphologies, bacterial cells are about one tenth the size of eukaryotic cells and are typically 0.5-5.0 micrometers(um) in length.

The smallest bacteria are roughly 0.5um in diameter amd therefore by using 0.22um pore size syringe filter you are able to fully remove all bacteria from the steroid solution before it enters the sterile vial. in fact you are actually 0.3um smaller than the smallest bacteria ensuring that even if the smallest bacteria were somehow introduces to your mixture in the then minutesit is uncovered, that it would definitely be removed with ease

1) 100% sterility is an impossibility and certainly not achieved through filtration.

2) filtration is not an FDA-cleared sterilization method.

3) viruses can still go through a .22um filter and concerns have been raised that bacteria can as well.
