Arms and DFHT

Im loving this program. I know everyone is different, and people should taylor workouts for themselves. My problem is that my arms are a weak point in comparison to the rest of my body. All my core lifts are going up, and putting some soilid weight on, but i do miss just having an arms' day.

Here is my question/alteration: What if instead of finishing mon & thur workouts with some bis and tris, i cut them out and hit them hard on wednesday, take thursday off, and do upper body on friday, and lower on saturday? So in essence im lightening the load off of two days and adding a day. Would this work u think?

I dont know which exercises you normaly do in your schedule, but you train your arms anyway as a supportive muscle group.

Rather do some more heavy sets with low reps for the arms on your UB day. Maybee finish it of with some light weight + high reps to get the blood in there.

Just keep variating the excercises, and than there wont be any need for a special arm day.

Thats what i have been doing. I miss the intensity of having an arms day. SOmetimes it jsut feels like too much for one day.

I also feel that i was doinga better job with my arms, when they had a dedicated arms day.

I use to have a similiar outlook concerning arms. I do the 5x5 and when I first started I would always add bi and tri work. Then I read a sticky here that said if you set the weights right you shouldn't have much left in the tank for extra excercises. So I concentrated on going as heavy as I could with good form and my arms have never been bigger. I found that overall my arms improved faster once I had really pinned down the right amount of weight. I should use. It just took me forever to get form down then it took even longer to figure my 5rm and all that. Patience was key for me. But I do miss the pumps that a high rep arm day gave me. The pumps make you think you are really hitting growing but it is a false sense of growth. I realize i refer to size here but by size i mean noth size and stregnth as they usually go hand in hand.

I see what you mean. It is often that i feel too spent after some heavy benching, rowing, and shoulder pressing, that i just screw doing arms at the end, or ill do maybe 2 sets of bis and tris. But i wanted to change my workout so that i hit some weak parts hard as well, you know what i mean?

Ummmmmm, no. That's what I think about your plan.

If you want to "taylor(sp) workouts" for yourself, then don't do a "canned program". By the question you are asking, I can, with 100% assurance, say that you are not qualified to fuck with Matt's magic formula.

If you want to have and "arms day", which, BTW, is a waste, then drop the DFHT and pick up a FLEX.

yeah some bi's and tri's work isn't going to be bad but I just don't think that making an arms day is going to give you the results you think it will. The quickest way to truly bigger stronger arms is through the core lifts. Besides having done the 5x5 for a bit now I could not go to the gym and just do arms. I might as well just sit at home and spank it.

Oh i totally agree with the fact that the core lifts are irreplacable and that they alone will build arms. I was just wondering if a low volume arms day would work well for me in bringing them up faster seeing as how they grow slower than the res tof my body. I have since learned that it is not a good modification.
