Beef protein

I'm ordering a custom blend from true nutrition on a recommendation from @OdieM. 50/50 egg white and beef protein. I read really good stuff about beef protein and got to thinking why not just go 100% beef protein if it's so good?

But if we're talking straight up best for the body and muscle growth I can deal with gritty. Would a 100% beef protein be best?

"Quality is the MOST significant issue with respect to protein. It's based on biochemical/physiological characteristics of the protein's amino acid pattern, digestibility, assimilation, and utilization. Protein is not beneficial if you cannot digest, absorb, and use it.

Biological Value (BV), Protein Efficiency Ratio (PER) and Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score (PDCAAs) are some of the more commonly used indices to qualify protein strength. Although it is important to keep in mind that most, if not all, of the methods used for evaluating protein quality have certain limitations, these measures do offer a general indication of how "useable" a protein is in your body."

I read that same article earlier today and it also says that beef protein was more absorbable and also reduced the bloated feeling because it processed in the stomach, rather than then intestines. That article actually lead to my question of just using straight beef protein and not doing a mix.

Im thinking about doing the same thing. Whey makes me feel sick everytime I drink it. You have a good source for this beef protein? Share the wealth.

I was going to use TrueNutrition.com. It's where Odie orders his custom protein mixes.
He swears by the 50/50 egg white and beef mix. It's $14/lb for beef protein which is pretty cheap compared to retail stores

Cool good looking out. Ill have to get some and hopefully I can stomach it better than whey.

I have a blend coming from true nutrition at odie's recommendation. I did 40% beef, 40% top grade pre digested cold filtered whey (said to be more bio available with more naturally occurring aminos) 10% sweet potato and 10% carb blend of low and high glycemic index carbs.

I have been using carnivor beef protein from vitamin shoppe... tastes pretty shitty but I can see a difference in muscle "quality" (appearance? Density?) When I mix protein sources. I use the beef, egg, whey blends all at different times of the day. I will report back on the blend. Excited to take it- got 5lbs for $90 including shipping.

I am impressed by this whole discussion. We spend so much time talking about gear and cycles that discussions like these take the back seat. I personally learned from this thread already and I'm thankful for it. Brutus please let us know about your mix. If it works I am gonna pony up on it

The carb idea is a good one, makes for an awesome post workout. Keep us posted on how you like it

Damn. There's so many choices.

I really don't know what to mix with what.

I'm think of maybe getting some of that grass feed protien but there's two options...

Unless you have a specific blend in mind. I would suggest one of their company blends. My two favorite are team skip as well as pre bed mix

I haven't used protien powders for a little over a year mostly because I much rather eat delicous food than a bland shake. But these seem pretty legit.

How's the taste?

i would think it wouldn't seem economically viable to take real beef and process it into a powder supplement. and considering things like "pink slime", I just aint buying it, figuratively or literally. since its been brought up, heres an article I remembered reading. patrickarnoldblog.com/wheres-the-beef. it looks like some beef protein products have an amino acid profile curiously similar to gelatin. gelatin is made from collagen using various animal by-products like skin, bone, and connective tissue. while collagen and gelatin may not be worthless supplements, I wouldnt say theyre a high quality protein source.

Damn Im not sure why I'm just now seeing this. Yeah i went 50/50 my last 2 batches. The soduim was really high and it was gritty and salty but I saw a fucking difference in the mirror. Im gonna go more like Brutus did and use Whey, Beef and eggs whites on my next one. If you want all Beef go with the Carnivor.

I'm subbed in on this one. I have ordered from true nutrition a couple times before but have only used the whey and different carb and amino blends. I will have to say I wonder about all the options they have. I mean they seem legit but how the hell am I gonna be able to tell the difference between cold filtered whatever and just plain whey. Who knows. I guess you just gotta trust em.
