Bench Press Question

Bros,

I have been weight training a couple of years now, and when I bench, I lower the bar all the down to my chest and then back up. I have been seeing a few people now put a 3 inch thick block of wood on there chest and lower the bar to the block of wood and then back up. What is the advantage of the block of wood. It seems to me that your not working the chest very well. Any ideas?

Probably the same reason why they still have a tampon shoved up in there..... Keep it up with the chest.

thats a type of powlifting deal..

Yep, read over in the training section or post a thread there and you will get better replies from the board powerlifters. I believe the blocks r used in conjunction with regular benching to work on sticking points etc.

the closer you lower the bar to your chest...the more chest and less triceps youre working
