Berberine Timing

So, I've been taking berberine and it certainly works well, getting my fast BG back to 77-88 range.

I know we should take 500mg 3x a day, so my question is:

My first meal is my pre-workout meal; it is a light meal of 100g of cereal, two scoops of Whey, and one cup of Almond Milk. Should I be taking berberine then, to lower my BG before my workout, or shouldn't I want BG levels to be high during my workout?
