Greetings,
I want to give everyone a heads up that privateMDlabs now offers LabCorp Test #070282, which is the LC/MS-MS version of both total AND free & weakly bound testosterone. The cost is $120.
The women's panel is still the much better buy if you only need total test by LC/MS-MS; but, if you need a more reliable bioavailable number, the #070282 test is the way to go. It uses uses an ammonium sulfate precipitation and then does a LC/MS-MS assay instead of using a theoretical calculation for bioavailable testosterone.
The difference between these two values may be over 30% in some cases according to a few studies. I'm hoping that this yields a more conservative number (as it should) so that my doc allows me to stay on my current TRT dosage.
