Blood pressure, heart palpitations.

A few questions about what the title says.... I’ve had light heart palpitations since I was about 20 I used to notice sometimes when I was laying down. My blood pressure has always been spot on for the most part (slightly elevated when I start bulking/blast) the rest of my bloodwork while on hrt are always well within normal range and cholesterol is great. In March of last year I was squatting and had an unusually hard feeling but slow heartbeat accompanied with palpitations before I racked the weight and passed out. I kind of came to as I was hitting the floor and had a really tight chest so I grabbed my shit and went to urgent care down the street thinking I was having a heart attack. My Ekg came back the same as it’s always been and bloodwork backed up it wasn’t a heart attack. The last 3 months though I’ve been having these heavy palpitations (with out fainting) more and more so I went in a couple weeks ago and got bloodwork and ekg, again my ekg was the same as before but they did say This time it’s always been slightly irregular and Its probably slight congenital abnormality but it looked great, They sent me for an ultra sound and that came back great so they sent me to a stress test, during the stress test I got my HR up to 195 then layed down and the palpitations started like crazy and didn’t stop for about 5 minutes, they told me it was premature ventricular contractions and it was normal. That doesn’t seem normal to me? My doc knows about HRT as he’s the one who has me on it, and knows about once a year I blast for anywhere from 12-16 weeks to his dis pleasure. But isn’t worried about it as long as my cholesterol and the rest are in check. The last 6 months my blood pressure upon waking has been between 115/60- 120/80 and anytime after my first couple meals it’s been from 135/80-145/90. One time just before bed being 155/85. My question is A. Is my blood pressure something to be concerned about or not if it’s regular while I sleep/rest? And B. Has anyone ever experience things like this?

Cheers all, LOTW

I’ll add in anything else I’ve forgotten as I think of it

135-155 bp is something to be worries about. Yes. The new guidelines state that 120/80 is now pre hypertension.

Do you check both arms? Or simply the left arm?

I ask this because most never check the right arm, but that is how my dad caught his clogged artery on his right side of body before it was too late.

A big difference in blood pressure from left to right arm can be a bad thing.

Normally normal range is up to 130/90, anything above that indicates some form of health issue or weight issue, food/stress/exercise can increase it as well, there are too many variations to consider.

With that said, check your blood pressure for 7 days, twice per day, from 0700-0900 and 1900-2100, make sure you rest 10 mins before you measure, normally doctors measure on the left hand. After that 7 days you'll be able to see if its elevated most of the time or just random spikes.

If it is above 150/90 on most of those test then you have to consult a doctor. Make sure to note down your pulse as well.

He just happened to notice and asked his doc? Awesome to hear he caught it before it was too late. Mine have typically been the same, why is it doctors check the left only? It’s only been that high twice, once at home I checked cause I had a throbbing headache and I read that could be from high BP, and once last week before my stress test and they called it “white coat syndrome” being nervous about my stress test. My mid stress test BP while running was normal.

What a result good supps to take for bp ? That should be the question as we are all battling this type of issue

I’ve read Hawthorne berry extract, fish oil, celery seed extract and CQ10 or CO10 (can’t remember what’s it’s called) can all help, I have Hawthorne berry extract and the celery seed extract but don’t take them ever as BP’s never been a problem until recently.

Most doctors and nurses do only check one arm. But that is not what they should be doing.

I always request both arms taken every time I go to the doctor and I also check both arms at home all the time.

Bp is something to not mess around with as it causes micro tears in your arteries and that, overtime leads to stiff arteries and as you know..... eventual cardiac arrest and other major issues.

120/80 is when concern should be taking place. Anything higher then it needs to be worked to be brought back down.

What machine do you use the few I have bought were always inaccurate

Interesting, mine were within two points of each other on the one I have so that’s a good sign. I checked it after sitting in traffic and having to pee like a race horse and it was 145/85.... 20 minutes after that sitting on the couch it was 122/66

ReliON - believe it’s the bp300 model.

Has blue tooth ability and an app where I store all my readings which include time and date.

I bring to my doctor typically twice per year to ensure mine is reading what her bp device is reading and matches up.

I’ve had this one for a while and it’s always spot on with my doctors.

Think these are like 65$ at Walmart. It also has a function where it will test 3 times in a row and give you the average of the readings to ensure accuracy. ( I don’t always use that function though) takes like 4-5 minutes to complete.

I’m assuming the dr that checked all these results is a cardiologist? Anyway She/he’s definitely gonna know more regarding heart rhythms and valve contractions abnormalities than anyone on the forums. You could always try getting a 2nd opinion from another cardiologist to make sure everything is ok, some drs won’t take you as seriously when you complain about your heart if you’re younger.

A cardiologist yes, and yeah that’s why I’m asking if anyone has had anything similar, because the cardiologist will call and tell me the result of said test is fine, then my GP has me come in again and goes over the results and basically charges me another copay to tell me I’m young and healthy. Just doesn’t seem like a young healthy thing to have premature contractions, and I was hoping someone had similar things happen and knew more than me could say “I think it’s ABC. Ask your doc about this”.

I think your right about being young and not being taken seriously, but when it’s your heart and not an achy joint or torn muscle it’s something to take serious in my opinion.

Your the one paying them money. You hire them...Tell them to take u serious Or fire that doctor and find one that will.

When you look for a new doctor your first visit you should interview them and see if they are a good fit for you, then tell them why you fired your last doctor.

You dictate who looks at your body and gives you advice on medical care.

I had a condition where I caught a fungus from another country, it eventually got into my blood stream... my original doctor said it was probably just “ salt from the air” I was having an allergic reaction to. ( where I live there is no salt and the place I visited had salt but was months and months prior.

Long story short, I fired that doctor found and interviewed 2 other until I found one that took what I was saying serious. End result she discovered fungus in the blood stream caused by this third world hell hole I was having to be in for a short time.

Yea I had some chest pains when I was 18-19 it wasn’t likely heart related but went to the cardiologist and basically laughed me out of the office, but he did discover I had bronchitis so it wasn’t a total loss. I’ve always been a bit paranoid tho, as I’ll have heart palpitations especially when anxious. I’ve had a few ecg’s, a 24 hour ecg and a couple echocardiograms since I was 16. Never found anything but if i fainted I’d of pushed for more testing.

Just try getting a 2nd opinion if possible.
