Bottle Top Filters and Media Bottles.

Hello everyone.
I'm very new to home brewing but I know this is something I want to do. I've been spending money on gear for a long time now and I've recently had it come to my attention that home brew can be slightly cheaper and fun. I know I don't want to do small batches so I figure my options will be to do bottle top filters and media bottles and vacuum pump. That bass killer website has been a lot of help with learning and doing my reading but I haven't found any tourtioals with bigger batches at this point I'm wondering if I'll have to buy new Bottle Top Filters and Media Bottles everytime or if it's ok to sterilize them and reuse for another batch. Could anyone point me in the right direction for an equipment list I'll need for doing bigger batches 500ml and such and enlighten me on what the can and can not dos are with doing bigger batches that Do Not involve syringe filters. But like I said use the Bottle Top Filters and Media Bottles and vacuum pumps for brews.
I figured this would have to be something that was taken to a pm to go into farther detail. But I'm really hoping I can find someone who is willing to help me out and give me some pointers to get started.
Thanks everyone very much!

You can sterilize glass media jars in between uses. Wash them with a detergent or glass cleaner made for lab stuff, rinse with distilled water, and put them in an oven at 500deg for 1-2hrs.

The filter cannot be re sterilized.

You'll need a bottle top filter setup, glass media jar (don't use the cheap plastic ones), a vacuum pump, and that's it really. Some filters can do 500ml and some do less. Make sure not to filter more than the filter is rated for

Hey doc, I sent you a message.
Thanks

I do 250ml batches with the filters you buy on Amazon. I shit can the plastic media bottle that comes with them and use my glass ones. I get a case of twelve disposable sterile vacuum filters for less then $100.

is the vacuum from a hand pump enough to filter gear properly?
and second question, as with whatmans, is there such a thing as applying too much negative pressure and have the bottle top filter membrane tear apart and leak the substance?
All this using glass media bottles of course.
