Butyl vs Silicone stoppers

I am going to guesstimate, then, that these have a shelf life of 1 year maximum. Ironically, I have always, just as a common sense gesture, advocated using gear w/in 8 months (preferably 6) of its creation.

For us idiots who are still using chinese oils, upon receiving, best to filter and move to a larger, safer vial for long term storage?

Keep in mind there may be no noticeable effect from leaching chems into the oil, so it’ll probably be just as effective, maybe not even pip or anything else you’d notice, just whatever the ultimate long term toxicity is.

I’m curious in the poke lifespan of PTFE coated stoppers - how much do you draw each time & what gauge needle do you use?

Those 100ml vials are for storage, not really for using. When it's time to use em I transfer it to 30 ml vials. I usually do 30 pokes or so with those. Usually use 25/27g to poke. The stoppers are in a really good condition, even after 30 pokes.

The ones from Farris Labs can handle even more pokes than these PTFE ones.

I saw above you are recommending Novapure, yes? Keep in mind this is for brewing raws and doing my own sterilization of everything and capping.

I searched up the Novapure stoppers and they are insanely expensive ($731 for 500). Any cheaper options?

The ones linked by @Ghoul at post #6 is NovaPure.
You can find expired ones on eBay that are significantly cheaper (if they havnt been bought up already)

The ones Ghoul linked were $771!!!

I might poke around on eBay.

On a related note, what stoppers are American pharm companies using? They don't make sustenon and they use cottonseed oil so they are already lacking quality, IMO.

There’s a second link for $50.

Also, the “expiration date” is a reinspection date for sterility and the very precise dimensions required for high speed automated vial processing machines, since they’re intended for pharma industry use, not that they go “bad” 2 years after being manufactured.

When you buy “normal” cheap retail stoppers they don’t typically even have an expiration date.
