Capsule filter .22 autoclave questions

My supplier for my capsule filters stated I should be auto claving my filters before use

Has anybody auto clave their filters before use? I’m just afraid with the moisture from the auto clave the steam getting into the filter and not drying then running oil through it there would be an issue has anybody ever encountered this?

I have heard of autoclaving bottletops but never capsule filters. Why not just buy a sterile capsule filter, They are readily available compared to bottletop filters.

I realize this but I have a batch that are not sold as sterile

You can autoclave in autoclave bag and let sit for a week or until you feel that they are dry. IF they state they are "autoclavable".
But even if moisture is present in the filter after, it will present as a minute amount of water in the bottom of your media bottles.

I have read about vendors running a small amount of ba through non sterile filters, then pushing plain oil through then your brew

This is a good "guerilla" way to sort of do it. It isn't necessary to flush out the BA with oil (depending on the end quantity of course) because you will be diluting the end product in both cases. A wee bit more BA won't hurt anything.
Well, 50ml maybe. But in a liter or close, not at all.

But honestly, most homebrewers aren't using laminar flow workstations so, you can only do so much anyway.

I have a dry function on my auto clave, so maybe I should just run it an auto clave bag and let them sit then push thru some oil and scrap the first 10ml or so , I don’t think I have any other option , the vendor told me I should autoclave them , so hence I am trying to find the best method to do this not introduce water into the finished product

Put three drops of water in a container of oil. Does it really look that hard to work around it?
