looking for a new piece of equipement since my current, no longer made bike is breaking down. any ideas or help?

Jump rope.

10 minutes of jump rope = 30 minutes of jogging (so it sais in the new mens health)

I used to box, and jumping rope everyday made me a machine in terms of endurance.

The Gold's I go to was moving into a newer, bigger building. They had to buy all new machines. I got a commercial grade eliptical for $250. I know it is more than $100 but if you buy something cheap as shit, I won't last. Also, if you are used to using machines at the gym, the home versions will seem like they are made for kids. Just an idea.

you'll never see me purchase anything for cardio other than a jump rope and some running shoes.. I've always had THE BEST effects from choosing jump rope for cardio.. It's to the point that I have no reason to ever look a different way when I feel like burning some fat...oh yeah.. u can get one for alot less thank $100.00 :D

Kenneth's post is correct. I think the most you'll spend on cardio equipment should be on your shoes!

Having said that, I will still make a suggestion as to one other piece of equipment. A sled is great to have. But you don't have to buy a nicely welded, painted, fabricated one. I chopped a 4x8 sheet of 1/2" plywood down to 4x4. Then screwed some 2x4's onto the front of it in order to make a box in which the weighs would sit. I then screwed 2 J hooks into the front 2x4 to which I attach my rope. I also attached the seat of an old high chair to the back of the sled, such that my daughter can ride on the back while I pull. She loves it, and it's the best kind of daddy/daughter time I can think of. All tolled, I think that cost me about $10-$20.

But I wouldn't have done the above if not for my daughter. I would just stick to pushing/pulling my Jeep around the block. With gas what it is, I may just start pushing it to work too.

Jump rope, sprints, heavy bag or a mat to roll around on. I would not waste your money on those crappy cardio machines unless you get the commerical grade stuff but then your talking some bucks.
