Thicky-boy, Im headed to a chiro this afternoon. Met him at a local sports/medical show. Any questions or things I should look out for when I meet with him?

Really just follow your instincts. You should be able to tell if he is a genuine dude or a money hunter. Some will go out of their way to find problems and want to justify needing multiple sets of xrays or schedule way too aggressively. That sort of thing. I would also find out what school he went to. Dont want one that went to the brown thumbers school. Is it for your knee?

He did some EMG thing on my neck/upper back and was saying that the numbers showed some possible nerve impingement. The visit is only $20, so I figured I would give it a shot.

no reason not to. He would really have to be a c and u ahole to make anything worse. Where did he go to school?

you mean nerve conduction velocity study?

I have no idea, bro. Its a little electrode thingy the he places on every or every other vertabrae.

Thick, he said he got his undergrad at Virginia and DC from Palmer's. I thought only fags went to Palmers? :D

Oh shit. You will fit with him like peas and carrots

I dont have any. It was a special offer because of the expo. The only real thing he noticed was in my foot position while standing and the wear pattern of my shoes. Apparently my left foot flattens out (loses its arch) much moreso than the right.

arch

could be congenital unilateral pes planus(flat foot) where the medial arch never properly developed or acquired/developmental pes planus where the connective tissues can no longer support the medial arch.

a rigid flat foot is due to an osseus malformation. if the flat foot is flexible, orthotics support for the medial arch can help improve foot biomechanics.

he has to determine "why" the anomaly is occuring.
hard to say just from what you wrote...but he'd have to do some orthopedic testing and some hip torsion testing.

good thing about Chiro's is that they treat the cause rather than the symptom.

That hopefully shouldnt be too hard to do. I found out today my insurance will cover chiros and I only have to pay $4/visit.

OutfreakingStanding!!! $4 a visit!!! I have a compressed L4/ Bulged L5 and cracked tailbone from falling out of planes for 10+ years. I've been seeing a chiro religously for 3 years. I left the service Aug 99 and managed to talk my way out of exploritory surgery. Didnt like the idea of opening me up with no real game plan. I started getting 3 adjusts a week for a month, then 2 a week, one a week, one every 2 weeks e ct... I'm in a "maintenance " mode now and go about every 5-6 weeks, I sound like a bag of freakin marbles everytime but the cronic aches and pains are gone. Hes done wonders for me and I hope yours can do the same for you. Wish mine was only $4 a visit...I'd be there daily!!! Best of luck Bro.
