I discovered after getting the test that a positive result wasn't just inconclusive. It could indicate antibodies from a previous non CV19 corona virus that the body would produce in preference to the correct ones making it much harder to recover. This is called Original Antigenic Sin. In effect, without having previously tested positive for COVID-19, a positive antibody reading could be good, or very very bad. I'm was originally hoping for a positive reading, but now I'm glad it was negative.

So a positive result could indicate exposure to another non sars cov2 virus, and they don't rule out a present infection?

This should say... and negative results don't rule out present infection. Question still stands. And how useful are these tests?

Yeah, sort of a waste of money with all the disclaimers. It's a statistical test, so it's supposedly correct more often than not. That makes it useful for determining infection rates, but pretty much useless to individuals.

What would be the negative?

The negative result means I've (probably) never had any corona virus before. So if I get CV19, any antibodies created won't be for the wrong virus.

I would think infections, especially recent ones would only help as the immune system would have had some experience with a similar virus. Even with no past experience with other coronaviruses i believe the it takes some time, days or whatever for the immune system to create the right antibodies.
