Customs seizure

I have a Fedex envelope with only cash inside which has been seized by international customs. Fedex can't give me any further information, they told me to accept this a loss. Has this happened to anyone else and should I accept this as a loss or is there anything I still can do to fight this. I know its not illegal to send cash through the mail its just not recommended by any delivery service.
Any ideas will be appreciated.

The cash was going to England. The envelope was addressed to a business.
There was no order information inside the envelope, only cash. The envelope
was cleared when it first arrived in England but was seized by customs in the
city where it was to be delivered. The only good thing is at least by using
Federal Express I was able to track my envelope every step of the way right into the hands of customs.
My only beef is that customs has no idea what the money was for. I have a neighbor who adopted a Korean Child and monthly sent cash overseas with no problem.
I know that alot of us send money through the mail for our own private reasons but I wanted to get the word out that this also may not be a good idea.
I/m frustrated right now and just looking to see if any of you have ever had this happen to them. If so what happened and what was the final outcome.

Why in the hell would anybody send cash through the mail? If a source doesn't accept WU or Evocash, find another source! Next time just send the cash to me, and you won't need to track your package at all. I will just keep the cash instead of some dick head in some foreign country getting it, and the end result will be the same-you will be out the cash, and you won't have to wait days to find this out. After all, who would you rather give your cash to; a good Meso bro like me, or some drunk Limey?

There are a couple of good bro's here that live in England and may have more info. Not sure who you were sending it to, but could the local cops be investigating them. Never send cash. WU or EVO is best. Sorry bro. Live and learn. Was it a lot

The amount was just under a grand, so ya it was alot. I/m not sure if the address was under investigation but I now believe so since it was not seized until it made it to the city it was to be delivered. I think I/m looking for legal issues as to why it was seized. If the address was bad why would why would my contact be accepting cash at that address. I/m sure I/m not the first to send cash to that address. Plus this person is still getting great reviews for outstanding service. I/m posting this info as a lesson to me and to any other members of Meso. I/m sure at some point I will get a letter from customs explaining the reason. I/m also going to try and contact Fedex in the UK to see if they can give me any more info. or a contact to call.
I really have nothing to hide since there was no order info attached to the cash. I was just trying to buy a nice watch for my wife, no really.

Here's some better advice, never send cash internationaly or domesticly. I'm surpised they seized it, normaly they would just rip open the envelope take the money, repackage the envelope itself in a new envelope with a note saying your envelope was open when they received it.

I had some cash sent to me last week via trackable insured local mail (next day service).

One week later it hasn't arrived, the sender calls up and is told 'that the postman called in sick during his delivery rounds and took the letter home with him, he hasn't returned to work yet" Be interesting to see how it all ends....

I bet the Postman and the customs agent are at the local pub right now having
a wonderful time. Oh well I think Ill have one last cry and move on.
Lesson learned. Lesson taught to those who read this.

Hey mate Im from the UK. This sounds like shit to me mate. Fedex only have customs at point of entry if it clears there then thats it they dont have customs at local delivery depots. So it must have got snagged at the entry point. Its not illegal to send money through the mail just a bad idea perhaps. So if fedex are saying customs have got it then I would be phoning them up to find out why they have seized cash and I mean speaking to the Uk customs trust me you can do that I have spoken to them before about a package that they seized?

If there is no info with the cash how can they seize it cause they dont have any proof of what its for?

If its going to an address that they are watching then they would let it go through so whoever they are watching picks it up and then they nick them .

seems to me You're the stupid one! No, I would prefer to send it thru WU and use my real name , real addy, and real ID to they can track where all my unnacountable money is going and to whom!!! YEAH RIGHT!!!!

Dont you remember a year or 2 ago almost everyone sending money to mr Bruce Lee (by WU) needed to talk to the WU rep over the phone?? Was asked all sorts of questions? (who are you, what do you do, why you sending money to this guy? you know what he does for a living? where did you grow up? etc. etc. etc.)

That is because Bruce Lee is known for what he does, and he was being watched. Well, at least his buyers were. It was on multiple boards if you've been around a while.


Anyway, FYI- I have sent 5k - 15k thru the regular mail and NEVER had problems going domestic. It can be done if you know what you are doing.

But I agree, $$ overseas by mail is a little foolish. At least get a cashiers check or MO so the postal dicks cant cash it!!
