Deadlift grip

Okay my grip keeps giving out before my body does when deadlifting I feal I could add 60+ lb if I had the grip.

I was jumping a lot with my weight before when I was alternating between rack pulls and dead lifts is this a good grip exercise or are there better ones? Or others I can add?

My grip strength reached new heights when I incorporated rope exercises to my workouts. Rope pull-ups and rope climbing are seriously underrated exercises.

Farmer's walks are helpful too. As it is gripping and holding a couple of plates to failure.

Chalk, can add so much weight to a lift, much better than straps. since the pressure is still on your hands, not wrists.

a few solutions:

Liquid Grip, it is not messy has no color and doesn't leave and residue, it can be used at any gym

occasional lifts with straps to overload, to much use will weaken grip and make situation worse, but occasional will improve lifts.

use a HOOK GRIP, this is the hardest solution, but many will argue the greatest end result. It hurts like hell when learning it but puts arms in strongest position and it never seems to fail for grip strength

No I hop from gym to gym cus I travel and they don't like chalk most don't any way
I wouldn't workout at a gym that didn't allow chalk it makes a HUGE difference in my ability to pull heavy. I understand you travel...id just be as clean as I could about it(clean up after yourself)and worry about the consequences later...you know easier to ask for forgiveness rather than permission type of thing

Now a days i just use straps double overhand pulling from the floor...i dont compete so fuck it. Years of mixed grip gave me weird imbalances and bicep strains. My hands are too small for hook grip so chalk and straps it is.

Yeah I don't like over hand I use deads as a body building exercise so I figure over under defeats this purpose.

I got small hands as well and I do mixed grip but rotate the over/under with each set so no imbalances there.

I always alternated over under too from set to set but over time I developed bicep tendonitis in right arm from the underhand grip. That caused a chain reaction of other issues down the line. Once I switched to double overhand with straps my issues eventually went away.

I will say deads have been my favorite excersise for 20+ years I've abused them with a lot of volume over the years which was likely a contributing factor

If I didn't have straps with me I'd still pull mixed grip weather my goal was strength or hypertrophy...in your case with hypertrophy being a primary goal id want to pull the heaviest weight I could for a long time under tension to maximize gains of the prime movers...if I was using double overhand with no chalk no straps I'd more or less be working grip strength...as my grip would give out long before my glutes/hips/lower back and upper back.

I have to agree with you on this, Nothing seems to put on upper body size like heavy deads, Since I started training these all the time my upper body has responded like crazy, the best part is most of the size is in my rear delts and upper back, one of my hardest spots to gain

I agree which is why my grip needs to improve I was doing rack pulls before cus I pulled my ham string (minor) and it was blowing up my grip once I started doing dead lifts again I actually pulled more then I was before my injury. Then I just stuck to deads and now I'm stuck.

Gyms that don't allow chalk aren't gyms they are fitness centers.

Aside from my unwanted opinion, use liquid chalk. As it's been stated here already, chalk will multiply your grip strength big time.

Another excersise is to load up a heavy add bar on a power rack (saftey rails) at a height where you barely have to lift it up off the rails. Grab it, lift it 2 inches, hold it for as long as possible, drop that shit. Repeat.

Lol I agree but I jump from town to town so I don't really get a choice sometimes. And I will try that exercise!
