Here goes. Lets say door 1 meant you would go to bed and wake up in the morning and your life would be as usual.
However, door 2 meant you would go to bed and die peacefully in your sleep. How many of you would opt for door 2 ? Remember, you would die peacefully.

Now matter shitty my “life would be as usual” might be, or even steps worse—pick door number 1 every single time. The harder the challenge, the more rewarding the outcome.

Hard times and struggle add appreciation for the good times. So while I certainly enjoy, and much prefer, good days, weeks, years, also find true appreciation in hard times too. So dieing peacefully in my sleep is way, way worse than my worst day awake. Granted, it does come in ahead of a slow axe murdering.

Door 2 would be my option if I had a terminal illness depending on the situation. That's my plan, actually. If I'm diagnosed with alzheimers or late stage cancer or something, I'll take a barbiturate overdose and die peacefully in my sleep.

I pick door 1 in every other case. I can always work towards a happier life, at least until I'm not physically able to do so anymore.

That makes a lot of sense. I was going to pick #2 after my serious accident years ago as I was badly broken and was not right due to a severe head injury. But my family insisted on me getting the therapy so I did so and stuck it out. Now I am functional again so #1 was the best choice after all.
