Decline Bench Press

Other than behind the neck barbell presses nothing can wreck a shoulder faster.

I have lower pec issues, that seems to be where I'm storing my fat. No to be confused with gyno.

BTW, I have been doing behind the neck presses for 30yrs now with no major problems. What do you recommend in its place? I really not a fan of dumbell presses because I need some one to hand it to me as you go heavier.

You sound like my husband...and if anything like him -you probably have huge shoulders. Lay off the behind the neck and try the dumbells. May not go as heavy with them but they have an advantage to independent shoulder strength and offer more overall shoulder engagement. Standing military presses are a bitch. But getting back to the lower chest...having extremely strong shoulders can compensate for chest strength-so decreasing the wt load may get you more results. It did with my hubbs at least

Thanks for the input. Actually, my bench is pretty strong and its equivalent to my shoulder strength. I'm a little confused, go lighter on my shoulders or my chest? FYI-- I have to admit my work-outs are from the eighties decade. Very few cables exercises or dumbells. Pure barebells. That's where all you size and thickness comes from. I guess I'm really dating myself (LOL).

Decrease the wt on chest and REALLY focus on form. Yeah my hubbs is 42 so he did the same workouts as you (80s meathead style) no offense:D

To target the lower chest try wide grip dips and flat bench flys with arm rotation of the pinky fingers toward the floor at the end of the movement.

Decline press built my chest better then any other chest exericse every.

I seperated my shoulder several years ago during a fall, and I can only do burnout on it now. I miss it big time.
