Discuss Lipids

Just wanted to get some feedback from the community on the whole lipids topic.

As you guys know some gear we take adversely affects our lipids. Personally, I have had high cholesterol for 20 years. My LDL a little bit elevated and HDL not above the "#" suggested by blah blah blah during some runs my HDL about halves. Having said all that, I do a yearly calcium score exam ($100). This scans your heart and arteries and reads the plaque buildup. They provide a score from 0 - 1000+ where 0 means you have no plaque at all. I have always scored 0.

Basically, for me high cholesterol has not affected me. I am beginning to think a lot of cholesterol theory, is exactly that. Or am I misinterpreting the whole thing?

Cant really answer, however, I just did learn something new here. This calcium score test is something I will be looking into, personally. So, thanks for that brother.

Edit: what are your average triglycerides?

Tris were at ~110

Calcium score is worth the $100. A friend of my dad was on statins for many years and eventually has 3 arteries at 98% blocked. Calcium score would have caught that crap early on.

There are many new technologies nowadays that can photograph our heart many times between beats to see all of this stuff.
