DNP + blood Urine nitrogen Health Question

I A few weeks ago, around Thanks Giving, I stopped taking DNP one day after I think. I believe I took 200mg for the first 3 days, then 400 mgs for 4 days, 600 mg for 1 day and 400 mg for one day..
During the same time period, I believe I also came down with strep. The symptoms of strep, and side effects of DNP made me feel like garbage.About a week ago is when I stopped taking antibiotics for the strep.

Here is my question. A couple days ago I had a BUN lab taken. My blood Urea Nitrogen level was at 33 which is way out of normal range.. The day before I had Tons of chicken and protein. Which of the three variables is most likely responsible for making my BUN lab so high? Would DNP do this? Could the Antibiotics do this? Or would simply having a lot of protein the day before do this?

Thanks,

Thanks,

DNP did not do this.
You say you had "tons" of chicken and protein the day prior - just how much did you have? Most likely that is the cuprit but that's just me...

Thanks for your reply. I figured it was all the protein so when I just had my BUN tested again, I made sure I kept my protein levels low the day before and MY Bun LEVEL WAS AT A 13 instead of the 33.I didn't see how DNP could mess me up that fast.

The Dr's need to ask more questions about false positives. Before I knew what BUN levels were, I did go to the hospital when I was on DNP and the Dr told me that my kidneys were in the beginning stages of failure.Granted I did go to the hospital because I was dehydrated and I couldn't keep the water down and was getting bad headaches which was probably do to not drinking enough water while on DNP..I am not a MD, however; just by using google I read that eating high amounts of protein will throw the BUN level test off. The DR. really had me worried, and even though she told me that it was from the DNP. I did not fully believe her because I wasn't on the DNP for that long, and I respectively increased the amounts without going over board. To say that 7 days of dnp at about 400 mg almost ruined my kidneys didn't make sense to me. I thought if it was true, then this would have happened to many others. The culprit was protein. I am sure if my CK levels were off, she would have told me I had a heart attack instead of asking me if I had lifted weights. I guess I can't blame her,. She had never heard of DNP before so she pretty much looked it up really fast, found out that it is a toxin, and then ran a bunch of labs.

It was kind of funny though because while I was at the hospital they had a drug counselor come talk to me about taking DNP. I like that they care and do that for people who are hooked on myth, heroin, pain meds and everything else but come on,..... it was hilarious because DNP is not a drug, so he didn't know how to fully say his script! It's not exactly a med which one gets hooked on from being high! They get an A+ for caring but a Fin knowledge about the stuff.

Dehydration and increased protein intake both contribute to elevated BUN. Sounds like you had both. I would guess that DNP could cause renal failure, but if your kidneys were failing, your serum creatinine would be elevated as well.
