Do electrolytes supplements work?

I understand and it doesn’t make sense. I really haven’t even been sweating much yet. But I have a business that requires me to be outside all day. In the south. So I stay soaked in sweat 5-6 months a year.

last year I damaged my kidneys a little. On that day I had 4.5 gallons of pure water. It was going straight through me. No electrolyte replacement. The diuretics I was unknowingly using weren’t allowing me to retain electrolytes. Yesterday was a 2.5 gallon of fluid day and I only pissed 4-5 times and cloudy orange, brown , yellow urine. But I did have to leave bed twice overnight to pee. I also sweat quite a bit in my sleep.

I’m really hoping that adding more potassium from real foods helps a lot. Seems to be.
Excess water does not harm the kidneys, but a lack of water does. Most likely diuretics and not enough water have damaged your kidneys.

Seems like your water could be a bit low at half a gallon. You may be cramping from dehydration if your workouts are vigorous enough. Slow increase is to .75 gallon ... 1 gallon, more of need be. BTW.. if you are not getting enough water, is one of the easiest way to kiss your muscle gains goodbye

As for sodium I always recommend people to use condiments with sodium, eg soy sauce, mustard, etc. Then you can add some sea salt to meals if you are still lacking.

Also some BCAA intra workout drinks have sodium... scivation xtend comes to mind.

Good luck and keep us posted!
Increased water intake was the thing for me. Miniscule cramps here and there still but nothing too bad.

I always cramp up in the evening in the muscles I've worked.
I'm watching diet closely, my water intake and macros every day. Now I have to monitor electrolytes intake as well?
I'm hoping I can just buy supplement pills at the store for this one.
buy some liquid iv off amazon.

Did you sort your cramping issue out?

4mg. I’ll usually split it into 2 with my morning coffee and then 2 more with my preworkout meal. If I take all 4 mg preworkout, I’m up all night

I see, ive been taking 5mg in the morning and havent noticed any differences in terms of cramps or hydration. I will experiment with more frequent dosing and keep my eye out for any electrolyte imbalances.

Hopefully you don’t have that issue, maybe it’s just me. It happens more when I’m in competition prep than in my “off season” (strongman training, it’s fucking brutal on your body).

It would be interesting if the reports were published according to the state

So, just for my own clarity, you increased your water and your cramping has mostly gone away? How much were you drinking before vs now?

I drink around 2.5 liters a day. Before it was barely 1.5 liters on good days.

Cramping almost 100% gone. I can get weak cramps if I flex a worked muscle real hard but it's easily avoidable.

What do you guys think of LoSalt as a top up source of potassium (in addition to whole foods)?

Ingredients
Potassium Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Anti-Caking Agents (Magnesium Carbonate, Sodium Hexacyanoferrate)

Nutrition per 5g
Potassium

1800 mg

Sodium 680 mg

It seems to me that in addition to water, you need an abundance of trace elements. Although the abundance of water is the basis of life.

I think it's a good variant. as an additional source.

I have to agree with the two previous posts, sodium, potassium, and magnesium. I actually supplement with potassium capsules, and since I started doing that, all of my cramping has gone away. I also drink 1.5-2 gallons of water per day... and I work a desk job.
how much potassium and magnesium do you supplement with? And do you just take them in the morning?

This, ive been using the original scivation Xtend for years and have never cramped. I take it about 20-30 minutes pre workout. The citrulline in it also gives improved pumps and it seems to majorly reduce my lactic acid build up.

They are a great choice, I like them too. I have been sitting on them for a long time and the taste and effect are just my choice.
