Do sterile vials need to have the aluminum seal on top?

My question is the thread title. I bought pre-sterilized vials and silly me only just realized that they don't come with aluminum caps. Are the aluminum caps necessary? I'll be storing my homebrew for a year to a year and a half. Also, do I attach the aluminum caps with a crimper, even if the rubber stoppers are already in place?

Not to be a dick, but why the fuck are you home brewing before you understand the basics of what the hell you are doing? This is the equivalent to asking if you need eggs to make an omelette lol

That being said sterile vials come sealed, sterile and ready to go so whatever you ordered is NOT sterile. To cap vials the rubber stopper goes on first then the aluminum sheath and or flip top, but vials and stoppers need to be sterilized first of course.

The rubber stopper is already in. The pack has a lot # and everything so it seems legit. It just doesn't have the flip top. I got it from medlabsupply.com

Well you said they didn't have aluminum caps on them, but what you should have said was flip tops and to answer your question NO you don't need the flip top caps on the vials to store them, just the rubber stopper.

These vials are sterile and ready to go. Anything else you need to know that you should know already lol?

And NO you don't put flip caps on these vials, flip caps come with the aluminum sheath so you have the sheath with no flip caps. Understand?
