Just went to the Doc today to get my shin-splints checked out and i weighed in almost 20 lbs heavier than last time i was there. She asked me what happened...why the weight gain? Told her I got pretty serious into training and just eat alot. She asked if I take any supplements and I told her protein, creatine, glutamine, and a multi-vitamin. Man you woulda thought I had tried to kill her first born. I had to sit there and listen to her tell me how bad excess protein was for me and how evil creatine was! She told me how bad it was for my kindeys and liver and how I would develop kidney stones if i used too much creatine. She said all I need to do is follow a healthy diet and "EAT NO MORE THAN 120-150 GRAMS OF PROTEIN PER DAY!!!" WTF?!?!?! She told me that the body cannot handle any more than that. Then she started asking me about my training habits etc etc.....I didnt even get into that with her. Like I was going to take advice from a person who looked as if she had never worked out in her life- it looked like 100 lbs of chewed up bubble gum telling me how to diest and train. Sorry...just needed to vent! I mean, the media feeding us BS and scare tactics all the time is expected, but wouldnt you think that a PHD would have a little more insight into the subject.
