Does Arimidex increase DHT?

Hey Guys,

My final question on arimidex, does anyone know if arimidex increases DHT levels? The reason Im asking is I want higher DHT levels, as my problems stem from using the hair loss drug propecia, I would only be interested in arimidex if it increased DHT levels as well as decreasing estrogen.

I was on Arimidex for a long time and no it did not make my DHT go up or down. It is hard to find anything on DHT with out it being about Hair loss.

Here is a cut & paste on how you can artificially pump up DHT.

If you really want to know what symptom is caused by DHT then use a high dose of anti-aromatase for about 3 days which will artificially pump up the DHT.

I'll research each of them read the article which I already have printed.

why not just go to medline and try to find a "research" article not someone's opinion. I have tried and can not find a single study where arimidex has been identified as an aromatase inhibitor.

DIM is *NOT* an aromatase inhibitor. This is a common misconception.

DIM stimulates the P450 system in the liver to metabolise E2 into more benign and cancer-protective estrogens. Even though the result is similar (i.e., it reduces E2), it's a completely different process.

No hammer warranted.

I just remembered reading that DHT does indeed inhibit Aromatase. And that it lowers estrogen's efects by shortening the half-life of the ER's. There is a third mechanism at work, I am sorry I'm not able ot remeber what is is, perhaps some sort of epigenetic effect. Was it Bill L. who wrote that? It was posted on the Boards a couple of years ago. Anyone remember?

Even without any such AI efect of DHT, its own actions are oppositional to estrogen.
