Does Arimidex increase DHT?

Hey Guys,

My final question on arimidex, does anyone know if arimidex increases DHT levels? The reason Im asking is I want higher DHT levels, as my problems stem from using the hair loss drug propecia, I would only be interested in arimidex if it increased DHT levels as well as decreasing estrogen.

Thanks again!!!

I was on Arimidex for a long time and no it did not make my DHT go up or down. It is hard to find anything on DHT with out it being about Hair loss.
I have this a good link on DHT.

This link is about herbs I don't do them but find it to be a dam good read. It has a lot on DHT.

Here is a cut & paste on how you can artificially pump up DHT.

If you really want to know what symptom is caused by DHT then use a high dose of anti-aromatase for about 3 days which will artificially pump up the DHT.

Being this.
GROUP II: ANTI AROMATASE

a. Chrysin
b. Quercetin
c. Nettle root?,1/2 level teaspoon of dry raw powder weighs 800 mg
d. Dimm or Di-Indolin or Diindolylmethane or Diindolymethane (sic)*Most effective
e. Apigenin
f. Naringenin
g. Methoxyisoflavone
h. Zinc
i. Arimidix

hey phil, how about posting up a study demonstating the AI properties of dim. I would like to add it to my library.

Thanks Phil,

I'll research each of them read the article which I already have printed.

why not just go to medline and try to find a "research" article not someone's opinion. I have tried and can not find a single study where arimidex has been identified as an aromatase inhibitor.

If you look at the Product Information sheet for Arimidex, it clearly describes it as a competitive AI.

DIM is *NOT* an aromatase inhibitor. This is a common misconception.

DIM stimulates the P450 system in the liver to metabolise E2 into more benign and cancer-protective estrogens. Even though the result is similar (i.e., it reduces E2), it's a completely different process.

my bad, i meant to say DIM not arimidex, of course arimidex is an aromatise ihibitor. THanks for not hammering me on this mistake! :)

No hammer warranted.

I just remembered reading that DHT does indeed inhibit Aromatase. And that it lowers estrogen's efects by shortening the half-life of the ER's. There is a third mechanism at work, I am sorry I'm not able ot remeber what is is, perhaps some sort of epigenetic effect. Was it Bill L. who wrote that? It was posted on the Boards a couple of years ago. Anyone remember?

Even without any such AI efect of DHT, its own actions are oppositional to estrogen.
