Is anyone on this board familiar with Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS)? I get it all the time and I can't stand it. I was raised a soccer player so naturally I like training legs the best and they have the fastest recovery time of any muslce in my body no matter how hard I hit them. 10-8-6-4-Failure sets in squats -- 10-10-8-8-6 sets in sled -- followed by similar sets in extensions, ham curls, calves and lunges (thats the typical leg day exercises) However, when I hit upper body not even a 3rd as much I get intense soreness 2 days latter. This means that the next day I could perform the same upper body routine and not have a problem but appox. 36-48 hours later it hurts like hell to even jump rope because of bouncing pecs. (36 hrs after Chest\Tri day) Someone could grind their finger in my chest and it would take the better part of my self discipline not to keel over in pain. Chest\Tri day looks like Incline Fly or Bench 10-8-6 followed by Flat fly or Bench (alternating) 10-8-6 then Delcine Bench 10-8-6 then pushups to failure --- Tris are dips 10-10-10 then overhead press 10-8-6 - pullouts 10-8-6
In all my upper body workouts (Back\Bis) (Chest\Tris) (Lats\Delts\Traps) I can do more reps and weight during the day but i hold myself back because i know the soreness will be to great.
As far as i can tell i've calculated my diet correctly AMR\BMR 5000+ --- pro 1-1.5 grams per lb body weight and carbs 2-3.5 grams --- this is for bulking --- so nutrition shouldn't be the probelm -- i get appox 7 hrs sleep a night STATS: 5'10'' around 183-185lbs
Anyone with any suggestions or sources on where to find info about how to deal with DOMS - PLEASE help me out here! I can take the pain (tolerance is building) but its freakin annoying.
