Dumb Question of the Day

Okay, I hear this term used in so many ways I can't be sure what it is, an activity or a physical description. What exactly is a pump:confused:?

I plan my workouts & supplements alone. I workout alone. I enjoy the benefits alone. So I am not involved in weight training conversations anywhere but here & not enlightened on the daily lingo.

Anyone care to answer my really dumb question?

The "pump" is when your muscles become engorged with blood. They swell up and feel full. As far as a gauge of workout efficacy goes, the "pump" doesn't mean shit!

So when someone complains their pumps are sore after a workout, they mean their muscles are painfully engorged? Gotcha.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Powerlifters rarely get much of a pump and certainly not a burn, but they have great workouts.

Pumps are not indication of muscle growth (perminant).
On a cycle the pumps are massive.

"Pumps are sore" - That sounds like they wear women's shoes to me?

But listen to Grizz, gauge your progress by poundage not pumpage.
